w/ the fiancee....

Her sister moved down there last summer with her new husband and it's my first chance to visit...

Any reccomendations?

He was born there and his brothers run a tour company so they know all the best places to go, but they are giving us free reign on where we wanna go and what we wanna do...

We will be down there for 8 days, the first two nights just outside of San Jose at her sisters place (her husband is on call at the hospital the first two nights, so we will hang around and explore San Jose those days).

We definately want to visit some volcanos and do a canopy tour at the Monteverde Cloud Forest.....

I have heard that there is some great white water rafting there too.

I would like to go to Costa Rica this June so please tell us how your trip goes!

Do you know if that tour company that your future sister-in-laws husband's brothers (whew) have has a web site?

Don't waste ALL your time doing tourist things (see so and so mountain, or coastline)... you've got the rest of your life to do those things. Cut loose, meet people and have no worries .....Those days will be fleeting and will never get them back, for better or for worse once you get a family, etc.

EDIT, read ops post, your with a SO. Your SOL, and your life is over. Study Tom Leykis 101, STAT!

Don't go for a tour into the deep jungle. Dangerous with all the drug cartels in there.

Unless you're into stuff like this, of course....

It would be interesting.

If you live.

A little money will go a long way. People are very nice as well, Taxis are crazy.

Speaking of taxis, always tell the driver were you want to go and ask how much (cuanto cuesta?) before you get in a cab. Sometimes they will over charge you.

Volcanos are fun to visit, expecially the ones with hot springs. Rain forest tours are cool too. They have zip lines that you can go one 100 feet in the air.

i recommend going to Manuel Antonio. its a great beach, not touristy at all. locals are great. just a really cool place to chill out and relax.

and it you want to do some more adventurous stuff, go to the Arenal volcano. they have white water rafting (maybe an hour away - class 4/5), zip-line tours of the rain forest, horse back rides, and at the end of the day you can relax in the hot springs.

i agree with creedog about the taxis, but just grab an oh-sh1t handle and enjoy the ride. 😉
