Yay she said her 98 machine crashes couple days ago and she wants to try something non-microsoft. So i told her all bout mandrake and open office....yay

girl: ok now my cdrom won't work!!! how do i get it to work???
you: type [mount cdrom command here]
girl: hey I just downloaded this program off the internet, I can't seem to get it to work!
you: you have to extract it, type [upack tar command here]

My wife's Pentium 233Mhz antique is running 98SE just fine. Boots up and shuts down a helluva lot quicker than my son's XP rigs. My 1GHz machine is also running 98SE without a hitch. If it ever starts giving me trouble, I may put 2K on it, but if it's been OK to this point, I doubt it ever will have trouble.

Tell your coworker it pays to buy quality motherboards, with nice, stable Intel chipset and CPU combos.

Nah, Panther 10.3.1. 10.3.2 slowed my machine's bootup. Panther is much nicer than Jaguar.
