I finally got my 850 Tbird stable at 1Ghz! Took a dab of artic silver and a chrome orb and TADA! Its rock solid at 95x105 @ 1.825volts.. It floats at around 45'C(from the probe under the CPU of course, don't know the actual CPU temp) on FULL LOAD with RC5.

This thing is smoking at 3.5Mkeys. DAMN!

EDIT: The Chrome Orb is actually a stepping stone since I don't have access to an Alpha PAL6035(SOLD out), I might group buy a Taisol tho.. dunno.

congrats
i could only get my 750 to 950. It boots up a a gig, but locks up later. I think it might be my memory.

Dude, I don't think its your memory. What kind of cooling do ya have? Are you using Artic Silver and a good heatsink?

Dexion: Way to go! I can only get my Duron 600 to 900MHz so I'm a tad envious.

yea im using artic silver, the reason why i say it memory is that i have a 9.5 multiplier and then tried to oc via the fsb(105fsb mem running +33@cas2so 138cas2). But that was a no go. Im to lazy to open my case and change the dip switches. :)

Dexion, welcome to the 4 digit club!

imhotepmp, i agree. Drop it to cas 3, i run 144 cas 3 (of course my mem only runs 133 @ cas 3 too). You should be able to hit more fsb that way but u'll need to run sisoft Sandra and benchmark your memory bandwidth, one at 133 @ cas 2 and the other at whatever fsb u hit cas 3. Cas 2 makes about a 5% perf. increase at the same clk speed, so you'll need to weight them out. Of course, keep in mind your cpu would be running faster to make up for some memory slack...

Techwhore: Thanks man, its a great feeling to finally reach it. My previous P3-650E wouldn't like the number sat around 960 tops. I killed it trying for 963mhz using extreme peltiers(72watt) and a huge heatsink, unfortunately it died from extensive condensation when Windows froze overnight. To see this beast running at 1Ghz without any of those extreme tactics, I'm quite amazed and very satisfied.

hehe.. me too, joined the 4 digit club as of yesterday =)

My PIII 700E is running at 1001 Mhz for over 24 hours now at 1.85v...

Hehe, Regular Radioshack heatcompound w/ Gorb.

At full load, using Asus Probe w/ the CUSL2 1002 bios, I'm reading a temperture of 45C.. is it too high?

That's at full load btw, running Prime and RC5 at the same time for 24 hours.

Congrad to all 4 digit users =)

<< Don't run it with cas2. Run cas3 and you can go higher >>

I know but I was running seti, which is very dependent on memory latency. :)

SmackdownHotel, LOL

imhotepmp, is that right? SETI is more dependant on memory bandwidth and latency? I always thought it was more processor dependant, learn something new everyday i guess

Damn I am almost there, if i get a new mobo i'll do it soon, I dunno how the video card would like 96 AGP BUS on my 6BA, and my generic PC133 also probably doesn't want to go to 144 FSBbut hey, my time will come soon :)

got my little 750mhz dresden t-bird to run up all the way to 1133mhz =) didn't run stable all the time, would end up freezing after a few hours of non-stop q3a! stepped it back down to 1ghz and this baby runs as smooth as silk.. 1ghz.. and just 3 years ago i was drooling over our high schools pentium 166's!
