My netgtear wireless router died abotu two weeks ago... finally got my new router (from MS, screw netgear) and can post from around the house again 🙂

I bought a Microsoft MN-500 WAP and unfortunately it kicks ass, performance wise, reliability, security, ease of setup and administration it just kicks ass.

Also got a Microsoft MN-510 USB adapter for my wife's desktop PC and again it kicks ass, plus it's so tiny.

The Microsoft WAP blows away my POS SMC 7004AWBR which required resetting a few times a week.

Which NetGear did you have? Hopefully not the MR814 because I just ordered one a couple days ago. 😉 Congrats with the wireless network, I hope mine sets up easily.

MR314. It worked fine until it died for absolutely no reason at all. And Netgear tech support sucks ass. They are clueless, tell you to do things you've already done, refuse to listen, all speak with an unintelligible Indian accent, and want to charge you for support on a defective product before they let you return it.

MR814 has a few issues. There's a beta firmware out that adds some new features and fixes some problems, but, there are others. You can read about it (and get the firmware) @ dslreports hardware\netgear forum.

I have an 814 that I use only as a WAP and it's been perfect in that role. The issues are with the routing functions. I can't list them because I don't recall what they are, I think VPN and maybe some things that require resetting... again, check DSLReports for more info on that.
