update: it is in better condition than we thought! everything is functional, it just needs some scrubbing! woohoo!

alright, hear me out...

my bro-in-law works at a college (he has the best job in the world...no bills, free housing, very fun job (gets to play in an arcade and laser tag arena all day 2 days a week)) and they just had an auction for a boat used by the biology department. he called and asked how much i would be willing to pay for it, and i said i will split it with you and i will pay a max of 200. he said sweet, lets do it.

so he put in his bid at $70, and no one else bid on it! this was a great week for the auction, too, since everyone is out of town or at least away from the college.

now, you are probably like WTF is wrong with it (exactly what i was thinking the whole time)...

there arent any holes in it, it needs to be painted and majorly cleaned out, the engine cranks but needs a few new seals, the rotor is chipped but should still work (we are going to replace it anyways) and the steering is locked up (but he used to work with boats - should be able to repair it ourselves). so basically it is funtional, needs a few repairs, but ought to be driveable in less than a few weeks if we put in some time to clean it up and rebuild parts of the engine.

oh, and this is the best part...it came with a boat trailer which is included in the $70 hahaha

edit: pics when i can get em :)

edit2: Text oh yeah, we need to buy new wheels for the trailer, so add another 60-70 bucks...

Can you clarify what kind (company) of speed boat, what kind of engines, and how long? A lot of people can define speedboat differently. My neighbor has a little mini 12 foot boat with like a 65 HP engine on it, and it goes like 60. Someone can call that a speed boat. I personally consider a speed boat something like what my dad used to own. We had a custom 34 foot Progression with twin MerCruiser 250 HP EFI's on it. That thing went crazy fast (I think the company quoted top speed during testing at like 120 or something). The best part about that boat was that instead of hand throttles it had foot throttles.

well most people think of a speed boat as something you see on a lake, like the small kind you can rent. your boat is like and uber speed boat, not just the regular kind. i have absolutely no idea what kind of boat it is, and the engine isnt too terribly small, so id say it isnt a total POS. i cant tell by looking, but im sure its not that weak.

It had twin 250's (500 HP total), so I guess you should check for diarrhea. Definitely have fun, and once you get it out, let me know how you like it.

hehe, the min. bid was $50, and we did a "proxy" for $70. someone bid $60, but didnt know someone else (us) bid higher already, so we won. i dunno, it didnt make much sense to me because i tried to think of it like ebay.

edit: oh, the shocker - the auction was over e-mail, but my bro-in-law sat in the ladies office who was running the auction instead of replying to an email LOL
