I finally decided to splurge and upgrade from my P160 to the P180 😀

Thanks to Outpost.com, overnight shipping was only $9.64. Absolutely an awesome deal. Other sites were quoting overnight shipping at $130+. AND if you order by midnight it comes next day! Simply awesome, I love Outpost now.

Anywho, I have two 120mm TT adjustable speed fans and a 120mm Antec fan leftover from my P160 that I shall try. My goal is to arrange all the fans (or as few as needed) such that noise will be as silent as possible. I have an XP-120 cooling my A64 3200+ Winnie and a stock 6800GT cooler. I also bought a Thermalright V-1 last night which should be sweet also!

nice ive been wanting to buy a P180 for a while just havent been able to put up the money 🙁
 
don't 180's weight a ton? I was about to order one, I think the web site must have messed up the specs portion, cos it says it weighs 38 pounds! I know this is a steal case with thick panels, but that's a bit too much for me.
 
Mine is in the mail. I still need to buy one 120 mm fan for it though... Hope yours works well.

Where did you get the V1?? I probably won't buy it though since I'm cheap and just spent tons on my build. Stock Leadtek HSF for me 🙁.

No all-aluminum case is ever going to be as silent as a steel case of similar construction. It's not within the capability of the metal. For much more exposition on this subject browse on over to Silent PC Review. That's why the P180 is made of steel internally. If you want a case to tote around to LAN parties, the P180 is not for you. If you want a SILENT PC, get a P180 and forget the 15-pound things. The original poster here, in fact, upgraded from a 15-pound P160 to the P180. I am positive he's going to be glad he did.

Okay, finally, it's up and running.

My 12v 4pin cable is a few inches short, so after a bit of trial and error I'm running without it plugged in until tomorrow. Because of that, I have some fans unplugged so until then I won't really be able to tell noise levels and such.

So much to do, maybe an update tomorrow.

How'd you do that?? Most motherboards with a supplementary 12V connector won't even POST without it plugged in.

I pooped in the refrigerator, and ate the whole wheel of cheese.

I'm really not sure. My fans won't start unless they're on high when I boot, then I can lower them, so I figured I might as well turn them off, just in case. My voltages are messy, but I'm not using it for anything except internet until I can get a connector tomorrow.
 
I saw this case yesterday at Frys. I didn't notcie a location for a front intake? That sorta worries me, cause I'm really considering this one or a CM Stacker(RC-830). I silent case would be nice, but when it comes down to it, I would rather have it cool than silent.

I did see three fans, one in the top and one in the back, my guess is those are the exhaust. The on in the bottom could I guess be an intake for the HDs? But what about an intake for the motherboard and all the components connected to it? Is there a fan there?

Any input on this guys would be great, sorry don't me to hijack your thread.
 
There's a front intake slot right in front of the 3.5" drives, or just below the 5.25" bay openings. It houses a 120mm fan. There's also a slot below that, in front of the 4 drive bay, but it doesn't look like it's made to mount a fan.

My fan setup is like this, so far: rear fan intake, top fan exhaust, front fan intake, chamber fan moving from front to rear.
