Woohoo my new T1 line is here...

T1 lines are rated for 1.5mb/s up and down, you don't have one.....

Edit

You might have 4 but good luck getting it for that price.

ummm, that isn't a T1. Unless it is 4 T1s in an IMA group.
😉

eitherway, good price.

Well the dude called it T1, and the specs said 6megs up/down. Who knows what the carrier is upstream, they're only adding a cat5 cable to my apt. Considering this service is for the whole apt complex, it's probably straight fiber.

Congrats on your Metro Ethernet connection then.

You need to add about 50% to your rate and move the decimal one place to the right for that to be a *real* T1 line. Plus as others have said, the bandwith isn't correct either.

Ahhh, that makes sense.

Hopefully your apt manager is more tech savy than my gfs. When they first moved in they had 2 T1's for 112 units (mostly 2 br) the router that they were using sucked so it just took one asshat to use all the bandwidth. That went on for 6 months of complaining, then the manager doubled the bandwidth and added a more robust router.

And enjoy sharing that six megs with your entire apartment

How many people are you sharing it with? If you're in a large building you won't be seeing those kind of speeds except in the middle of the night.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

I just got Comcast cable 8meg for myself a few weeks ago. Nice but expensive.
But its a much better deal for my money than the local DSL. About 3/4 the price and 1/8th the speed.

Umm...when did a single T1 = 6megs? 😉

If I had to guess it is probably a bonded T1. We just upgraded our service recently at work to a Bonded T1. 4 hard lines into the building. 1.5 x 4 = 6

we'll see, most people here go for comcast for both cable and internets, so I hope it's half decent.

they'll all jump ship after they see it's cheaper (well, depending on what service they have).

$39.99 is a great deal no matter what the ultimate feed in is.

I'm paying $150 month for a 6 meg line.

Take that FIOS!!

But FIOS offers a 30M/5M package. 🙂 A little more than $39.99, but 30Mbps down, DAMN! I'd get that package IF FREAKIN' FIOS WAS OFFERED IN MY AREA! :| Come on Verizon, let's get more people laying down some fiber! :|
