Local police auction, stores didn't want the merchandise back.
New in box: ThinkPad X61 Tablet 7764, Vista Ultimate, etc.
$110
Woohooooooooo!
And, I have been browsing the FS/T forums for the last few days, because my wife needs a laptop for her nursing courses.
Bidding was fun. It wasn't run by an auctioneer, so he just let people shout out bids. The bidding between the other two people went like this:
"5 dollars" "6 dollars!!!" Irritated look that someone merely outbid him by $1, "10 dollars" "11 dollars!" with a super-excited look on her face. It went like this up to $75, with longer and longer pauses between bids. When the guy had a grin on his face, convinced the lady wasn't going to bid $76, he heard me in the back just mutter, "hunderd." Looks of shock crossed the faces of the people in the crowd - all clueless what the thing was worth, because it was a smaller laptop than the HP Pavilion I had just won for $160 (also new in box.) The guy very hesitatingly said "105", I quickly shot back with 110, the psychology worked, I won.
The HP Pavilion is one of those pre-packaged things for Walmart or wherever. $9hundred-something on the side of the box. It's probably been in police custody for up to a year, but it was still new in box.
My wife is setting up the thinkpad right now. Everything was there, everything works just fine. Of course, it's sold "as-is", so we don't get whatever the initial warranty would have been (at least, I don't think we get the warranty.)
