I interviewed with Raytheon yesterday in their Woburn, MA location - this division is Integrated Defense Systems. I talked with 4 people. I got the offer call an hour ago. This should be a nice step up from where I am now. Anyone here work at Raytheon?

Nope, but i have a friend who does here in Newport California. She's an Electrical Engineer. Haven't spoken to her in a while. But i hear she's doing great!

no, but i work on missiles in the AF that they made. maybe we will meet and have a lan party some time.

They make FLIR systems for apache helis amongs other things. Need to be a US citizen to get an intership with them

Congrats! As it happens I did as well.

Nice, what location and division? You got the job there recently?

No, I didn't get an offer from Raytheon - it was from a law firm in Minneapolis.

Ah ok, my bad, too excited to think clearly. 😀

allow me to retort, Raytheon deals with the test equipment that we, well, test the missles on.

I've done a lot of work for Ratheon. Greenville Texas's E-systems Division. I'm also friends with the management there, check around, some of the defence divisions have extremely high lay off rates.

Next thing is to start looking for a place, I'll initially find an apartment for rent. Anyone know anything about the Woburn, MA area? I'd like to keep my commute to within 30 minutes. Not sure if I'd want to live in Boston, since rent will be exorbitant and commute time will take long.

You can probably find cheap rent in Worcester or Shrewsbury. Not sure how far it is from Woburn, but it's about an hour from Boston on the train.

i worked raytheon for about 6 months, i quit because iw as going to die from how terrible the people and the work is, it all sounds super cool when they tell what it is but the company runs at a snails pace, soooo slow. nothing gets done and there are a lot of old people and old people don't think very fast and get confused easily.

I think it'll be a combo of Systems Engineering, test. It might involve going to either Vandenberg Air force base in CA or the testing range in White Sands, NM.

Exactly. In my company there are some 40 yr old (and even late 30 yr olds) folks that have over 10 years of experience over me, yet can't seem to comprehend simple engineering ideas or speak, and can't think very fast, or handle lots of info at once.

Worcester is pretty far..about 60-65 mintues from Woburn.

To the OP: I go to school in Waltham, about 4 exits south of Woburn on 128/95. Let me know if I can help with anything. As for seeking areas with low rent, maybe head Northwest on Rte. 2 or Rte. 3 a little bit.
