I'm a senior history major at UNC-CH and I just got the news. This rocks, especially after all the work it took. Ok, that's all, I just had to share the news.

I wrote about the relationship between Hoffman, NC and Camp Mackall, NC from September 1942 to September 1945. Camp Mackall was the main airborne training center in the US. Home to Airborne Command, 3 out of the 5 US Airborne divisions in WWII formed and trained there and the 101st and 82nd had numerous forces train their. In Band of Brothers, there is a short scene where Easy Company is at the camp.

That's a cool topic. I'm currently writing a paper investigating why there was no large-scale public protest or outcry after President Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon in 1974. There were lots of phone calls, and lots of telegrams sent to the White House, but in comparison to the 1960s and early-1970s protests over Watergate and the Vietnam War, it was practically nil.

Haha, well actually, being in Ann Arbor, MI (the location of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library) does have its benefits. :D

Sounds interesting. If you ever publish or post your thesis on a website, please let me know.

Thanks...I'm in the process of formating it for various publishers in the hope that one of them will accept it for publication. Numerous folks have asked me about publishing it because next to nothing has ever been written about Camp Mackall. Not a single book for that matter.

Haha, nice, amen to that. I chose my topic realizing that I lived less than 90 miles away from my main research area. Never hurts to think practically ;)
