Should be here Monday....

White Macbook (SantaRosa)
2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
1 GB RAM
120 GB Hard Drive
8x SuperDrive

I have 4gb of Ram, and a 200gb 7200rpm drive ready and waiting...

Amazon Gold Box and the recent release of new Penryn Macbook's really helped me out though, got it cheaper than a refurb.

$1,090.79 shipped overnight
-$75 Amazon Rebate
= $1015.79 Total

Nice. I got a MBP a few weeks ago but I am wondering now if it really is worth the premium over the MB. I love the aluminum finish, but I think I would have preferred the 13" screen.

Oh well it is all good.

i think you get tired of the 13" screen if that's all you use. that is the case with me, my core duo macbook is my one and only work horse, but the lcd real estate is really limited for a primary machine.

Yea, i agree. In my case when im home it will be paired with my 24" lcd, so I think I should be good. Something small for the road (or when I just want to lay in bed and work) and something nice a big for home.

So far the 13" screen is fine for me. I watched Chronicles of Riddick yesterday on my macbook and it was fantastic. But then, in my case, going to a 13" screen wasn't too much of a transition for me, I'd been using a laptop exclusively for over a year. Even at work I use a laptop.

that's a pretty nice price. My sister needs a laptop for college. A macbook would be nice, but ultimately, the price tag is what will decide it. It's a damn shame apple doesn't just pony up the dvd burner in the base model, then it'd be a no brainer. And apple could just drop the black macbook as a color option on the 1299 model.. then introduce the 1599/1699 13" macbook pro :) of course, that would confuse the hell out of people about where the air sits.

I don't think a 13" s too small, I just think the resolution on it is too low. If the MacBook had a 1440x900 13" screen, I'd seriously consider it. And non-glossy... And a decent video card...

I guess that's why I have a MBP... But I complain about he screen resolution on it. It should really be 1680x1050 on a 15".

It's pretty easy for me because I've been using a laptop as a primary machine for right around 3 years now. I do miss the 1680x1050 screen on my Inspiron 6000.

Nice deal.

I ordered a refurb BlackBook for $1049+tax (free shipping) which on arrived on Friday. Unfortunately, it will be going back on Monday. It is DOA. Completely lifeless. Since Apple won't simply ship me a replacement machine, it goes back for service. With a little luck, 10-14 days from now I will have a working machine.

Sorry about the venting. ;) I am sure you will enjoy your machine.

Dang, tough break KeithP. My blackbook was a refurb, too. Fortunately for me mine was perfect right out of the box.
