It took me a while, tho' to do the partitioning. I installed Red Hat 7.2, it looks nice. I haven't had time to play with it, any suggestions what I need to do first?

Thanks

It all depends on what the purpose of the box is. If you have it on a network (I'm assuming you do), the first thing you should do is secure it better than Redhat does by default. It doesn't matter if you have critical data on the box or not, you should take steps to improve security no matter what, and it's good practice if you ever REALLY need it in the future.

Take a look at this thread for some good information.

Other than that, there isn't anything you NEED to do. If you're not sure what you CAN do, look for newbie guides to getting used to Linux, or consider buying an O'Reilly book to help you out at first.

Grab a beer and have a windows deletion party. And then secure the RedHat box 😉

Ok boys... Im' going in!!

well, now it looks easy after I installed and reinstalled a few times 😀 Anyway, I have some problems. My soundcard is detected when the kernel booted but I can't hear no sound. What do I need to do? I'm totally clueless about hardware in linux.
Another problem is, I cannot use win2k boot loader to dual boot linux and win2k. I have followed the instructions in anandtech FAQ, but when at the boot menu when I selected Linux, it didn't do anything just a blank screen with a cursor on top. What did I do wrong?
Please Help...

thanks
