One of these days I'm going to put a dedicated machine next to my TV with that purpose.

WHy don't you two buy a ReplayTV... same thing basically. Then offload the show to a real machine strip the commercials and burn to DVD.

That's what i do, though it's in stoarage right now.... I'm dying having to flip channels.

Because I don't have a DVD burner and it be much more of a PITA than just hooking a machine up with TV-out and wireless.

What about the sound?

I don't think his TV is outputting any sound, seems like only his laptop is. I use a Stereo to RCA cable to hook my sound card to the TV.

Hehe, I love hooking a laptop up to the home theater. At my place, we have this huge ar$ gold plated cables that are really think connection video between laptop and theather, and then some wires for audio. My god... it sounds so much better than today's MPEG-2 crap, oh yeah, btw, its MPEG-4 I'm talking about.

Couldn't find a suitable cable so it wasn't hooked up. I just wanted to test it out and see how the picture looked.

And yes, I know my TV isn't that great, but it was free so, eh... works for me.

I don't know if it's the TV, but pre-GF4 S-Video out didn't fare so well for me (even with TVTool). :frown:

Haven't tried it in a long while though. Maybe Radeon would do a lot better?
