My new engine will finally be underway. It'll be going to the machine shop on monday, and the engine stand as soon as it's done at the machine shop. I'll have my new motor done in a few weeks :)

"Block?"

Long block, or short block? Maganafluxed? Bored-over? Give us the details!

Finally, a real OT thread tonight...

What are the specs on the new motor? More displacement/compression/etc or pretty much the same thing?

Just a bare block (it's used). It's going to the machine shop on monday, they'll be boring it .030 over, hot tanking it, checking all the tolerances and everything. Yeah, I think i'll have it magafluxed too.

The new motor's going to be 306ci, same compression as stock, new top end, same blower. After it's all together and tuned, the car should make 375+ RWHP.

I think Magnaflux had a suit against people who used the term "magnafluxed". But I could just be remembering things that didn't really happen.

What kind of blower are you using?

A new engine block to go with a new windshield wiper knob. Can life get any better?

Wow. 375 RWHP is like 425 at the flywheel. :Q Very nice!! Good luck. :)

More like 400-410. Unless his tranny is extremely inefficient.

No compression in cylinder #8 and no oil pressure at idle. I haven't taken it apart yet to find out exactly what's wrong with it, but it definitely runs like crap.

Let's have some more details! What rod/piston combo are you planning on using? Are you going to use aftermarket oil pans, windage trays, main bolts (I seem to recall some kind of structure that bolts to the mains that strengthens the whole assembly)? What tranny/clutch/flywheel combo?

Eh, it's not that exciting, really, since I'm mostly using stock parts in the shortblock. Rods will be stock. I haven't actually decided on pistons yet... something .030 over that's forged. Stock oil pan, might get ARP bolts for the main caps. Not going to bother with a main girdle cause they're expensive and I really don't think that even around 400hp I'm making enough power to require one. Tranny is a Tremec 3550, with a Spec stage 1 clutch and the stock flywheel. Heads are going to be Trick flow Twisted Wedge and I'm going to get a Trick flow Street Intake for on top, with the old Paxton SN-89 blower putting 5-6PSI through it all.

How about an aluminum flywheel? :D

And definitely get main studs....extra strength for that 2-bolt bottom end that's gonna abused by all that cylinder pressure!
