Well, after giving up on the defogger kit, I decided to just go back to the drawing board and use the pencil. About three times later, it posted at 700mzh and locked up because heatsink wasn't on. Put the heatsink back on, tried 750, rock solid. 850, same thing. 900, still works. Went into win2k at 900 and ran prime95 for about 1/2 hr. Decided to shoot for the big one. 1ghz posted just fine, running rock solid @ 32c...

Damn, 1ghz feels good.

Congrats!

I got my Duron 600 to 1ghz yesterday too! I didn't even try any other settings first. I put it in upped the voltage to 1.85 and set it at 10x100. It booted to windows fine. I can't play games though. I need just a hare more juice to keep it stable.

I kept lowering the mhz just a hare and at 988mhz my games crash but at 984mhz I can play my games fine. I'm not getting any windows errors at all and all most of my bios settings are enabled.

I'm running cool around 34c and under heavy load around 45c.

krish, you said the heatsink wasn't on for the first time? well, don't ever try it again, a lot of people have fried their cpus by running for a few seconds without the heatsinks. you might be lucky this time..

Does Prime95 run at 1GHz? My duron can run @ 1ghz w/ 1.8v, but I can't get prime95 to run :(. I can play games, bench with sisoft, run RC5, but can't get prime95 to work. I decided to run at 900 because that extra 100MHz doesn't do much and might kill my system :p.

Man, CPUs these days are crazy, 67% OC. I can remember when getting 50 extra MHz was good.

[EDIT]Just realized I removed the pencil on the L7 bridge, running at 1.6v ATM

Way to go Krish! The best I've been able to get out of my Duron 600 is 900 so far (on a KT7 mobo). What heatsink/fan are you using? And what RAM? I've got a good cooling setup but I'm using a 128MB stick of NEC PC-133 RAM. I wonder if the RAM could be holding me back from hitting the magic 1GHz?

Krish,
Welcome to the 1Ghz club! It feels real good when it hits that magic mark, doesn't it?
The anticipation & adrenaline juicing up when you reboot after the BIOS adjustments: it POSTS & LOADS to Windows! Woohoo - you're 75% done. Next would be to run stability tests like Prime95.
Again, congrats.
