all this time ive been taking all highways to work (130 to NJ tpk to 18 to 287)...came out to about 45 miles each way. was getting sick of it so i mapblasted and found some local roads that got me here in 35 miles!! takes about the same time (hour and 10-20) so i figure i might as well the shorter distance. i know one is all highway driving and the new way has a lot of traffic lights but i was getting sick of the boring highway driving. with this new way i get to go thru a lot of small towns and the roads doesnt get so boring. :D

worse comes to worse, i'll just get my oil change every 6K miles as opposed to every 8K (synthetic oil)

Nice job...but I'd much rather be on the highway than sit in traffic during rush hour in a small town at a traffic light. :)

I can't bloody well explain it but I am not sh*ting you when I say that my job is, as the crow flies (I used mapping software) 19 miles from my house, but after the various shortcuts I've introduced after the past few months my commute is 17.2 miles. I know it, because I've tracked it in 3 cars. I also can't for the life of me find half the roads that I use on a map.

what site are you using?

try mapblast.com <--used this to find my new route. pretty good..even told me what roads turn into what...not just a turn by turn directions

try randmcnally.com <-- they must know something...after all, they do make maps for a living

meh im sick of the highway right now. i guess if and when i get sick of this new way, i'll go back to the highway for a week. hmm..maybe i'll take the highway route one week out of the month...just to keep things fresh :p

and besides...i was sitting in traffic only at one part...where 3 lanes merge into one :Q

19 miles straight line and 17.2 miles non-straight line, unmapped roads??

Only explaination can be that you are travelling through a blackhole, by jove, you've discovered a wormhole!!:D:beer:

Well I consider rt. 18 to be the demon road. Even if it's a Sunday afternoon that road is stopped with traffic passing through New Brunswick.

I hate driving on it no matter what the day.

I always sleep while I am driving to work, so I like when it takes a little longer ;)

Are you saying that it is 19 miles poin to point - as in a stright line - or 19 miles via the standard driving path?
