I live in Fremont, CA, the first city in the world to have cable modem service, and let me tell you, you haven't seen anything. In the early days, hardly anyone was on it, we had no upload caps, and I sustained downloads at 1.2 megabytes (yes BYTES!) per second. Plus, we had unlimited email storage (I have a friend who emailed himself his entire hard disk). Of course, it's been downhill since then, but it still beats DSL any day.
