Just got att@home cable service to my house and it rocks. We downloaded at about 300KB,not kb, average. The highest sustained rate we had was about 500KB. This r0><0rz.

ahh nice - that smokes my DSL! I only get about 160k/sec, but I'm happy. Cable co sucks here, and they don't offer it anyway (in Dallas - the suburbs have it, but not the city). I wanted Sprint ION xt2 (8 mbps DSL), but my mom is married to SWbell, and to get the real good deal you have to use them for your phone lines and long distance.

Just got my self install kit from road runner hooked it up last night and it wont connect the little green cable light wont stay on just keeps flashing. I was told the spliters in my Apt complex might have to be upgraded.

They just switched my node on two days ago. It used to be A B cable. still have the old cables in the complex. My digital cable is working great now but ROADRUNNER just wont work over the old crap cable.

500K? Do you use Time Warner or Mediaone? If you do your numbers are whacked and are exagerated. I download at the PEAK which goes through DOCSIS. caps me at 180K/sec. 1500kbs. If you don't use either of these posts then disreguard what I am saying, and BROADBAND RULES!

I live in Fremont, CA, the first city in the world to have cable modem service, and let me tell you, you haven't seen anything. In the early days, hardly anyone was on it, we had no upload caps, and I sustained downloads at 1.2 megabytes (yes BYTES!) per second. Plus, we had unlimited email storage (I have a friend who emailed himself his entire hard disk). Of course, it's been downhill since then, but it still beats DSL any day.

Just got dsl in my area about 4 months ago and I've been on it for about 3. I've had a permanent smile on my face ever since. Broadband rocks!

Why is it that everyone has high-speed access except me? Anyone know what broadband services are available in the Salt Lake Cit area?

I have cable envy (I've had it for almost three years). Now I'm FINALLY getting it in February supposedly. Cox is out near my complex running fiber optic lines in the ground. According to some sources though, it's going to being only unidirectional cable (meaning that you have to still use your analog modem to upload data). If this is true, I'm going to be kind of disturbed because I've been waiting long enough for broadband.....

The misery of dialup......
