gopunk

i've heard so many people talk about this guy so i decided to see curse of the jade scorpion... excellent movie imho.

so then i rent deconstructing harry and zelig.

i haven't seen zelig yet, but deconstructing harry was hilarious. i'm not sure if i quite understood all the parts though... scenes jumped around a lot.

any allen fans here? what movies do you recommend?

Favorite Woody Allen films

1) Annie Hall - THE Woody Allen film...most ppl consider it his best film.
2) Manhattan - (B&W) The score and cinematography are simply amazing.
3) Celebrity - Haven't seen it in some time (since it was released on video) but I remember liking it very much. Branagh plays an excellent Woody persona.
4) Crimes and Misdemeanors - Very serious drama, made in the 80's
5) Husbands And Wives - Judy Davis is terrific in this role, in a controlling, pathetic way.
6) Deconstructing Harry
7) Mighty Aphrodite - Great...very funny. Love the cutscenes of the Greek thespians.
8) Alice - Mia Farrow has a great performance.

The rest...either I haven't seen or didn't care for all that much. Still...Woody Allen's films are kind of like sex and pizza...even when they're bad, they're still pretty good.

Now go watch some movies 🙂

Take the Money and Run--my first Woody film and a blast
All the You Wanted to Know About Sex but Were Afraid to Ask--hilarious

Woody Allen is a movie making genious able to take inane situations and have you rolling in laughter. Special attention is used for almost every aspect of an Allen film. Cinematography, musical score, dialogue, and the characters are all top notch. Centuries from now he will be celebrated as one of the Classics.

noones mentioned Sleepers yet, which i think is hilarious. My all time favorite allen film is Annie Hall though.

I'm a big fan. In addition to the films mentioned, I'd like to add What's Up Tiger Lily and the more recent Sweet and Lowdown. Both are hilarious. I'm going to see Curse of the Jade Scorpion this weekend. 🙂

I'm a fan of all the ones that cherrytwist mentioned, and I cast another vote for Sweet and Lowdown. It's such a great movie and Sean Penn is wondeful in it.

I really enjoyed the one where Woody got married to this gal with a bunch of adopted kids, then he married one of kids...

I haven't laughed that hard in ages...
