Dempsey came before Woodcrest. It is Netburst-based, where Woodcrest is Core Microarch.

damn.. so Dempsey is dual-core.. but it also has Hyperthreading..

So, each core has the "logical" hyperthreading core as well..
I assume then the operating system would see 4 cores then?

Yes. The same can be said of the Pentium Extreme Edition chips (but not the single-core Pentium 4 Extreme Editions).
