Should be a *smidge* faster than the P3-700 w/ 256 megs of ram that I'm currently using  Shortly it will get a couple 15.3K SCSI drives in there to do some heavy file churning. The video is little overkill...but it may do some off the clock gaming on occasion ;)

Nice. Not too long ago the department gave me a Dell P4 3.0HT, with 1gb ram and a 15" LCD. Just last week they decided that I should have an 18" LCD instead to utilize the DVI connector on my video card.

An MX 4000?

Nice rig except for the graphics...but then, you're probably not supposed to be gaming on it.

It's cheap, it has DVI, it does some light gaming okay. Better suggestion?

I'm probably getting a new laptop from work soon :) (next month or so)

Currently got a Dell Latitude C640, P4m 2.0GHz, 256mb, 20gb, 14" SXGA+, Radeon 7500, had it since June.

I reckon the replacement will be a Dell Inspirion 5150, 3.2GHz P4, 512mb, 40gb, FX5200, 15" SXGA+

LOL! This reminds me of the time i was assigned to a Dual 2.4ghz Xeon workstation - unfortunately the only program they gave me was Microsoft Office. And i'm a graphic designer.

Needless to say, that didn't work out so well. I was given a Mac eventually. :disgust:

LOL! I'm going to be doing OCR on huge ass PDF files and dumping giant (like 300+ meg) PDF files to DVD for archiving. I'm also going to be doing a lot of data archiving from Fox pro app's with DB's in the 700+ meg range :(

I won't be doing that for a bit, hence the hold off on the high end SCSI drives.

You all suck (yes I'm extremely jealous).

We're stuck using ancient HP Vectra VL (P2/400 running W2K) with 19" Compaq fishbowl monitors.

When we "upgrade" it will probably be to P3/500's ... oh no hold me back :p

Yes but I work in international banking and investigations.

It's a very solid corporate PC but just wish it were a tad faster and I had a nice 19" Trinitron FD CRT.

The state set me up with a P2 machine (no idea how fast) with 128MB RAM. Next upgrade will be a P4. Too bad it won't be soon for me
