I'm moderately happy.

At least I now know how the moderation system works. :p

S'alright. CKGunslinger's reply about covers the gamut of valuable responses to this thread, I was just a bit excited.

Meta moderation is a very interesting concept. I know AT was talking about implementing it, but then JasonClark left.

Read an article on slashdot. You'll notice that the comments have point scores and categories like "interesting" or "funny" -- not everyone can moderate. People who meet certain criteria get points at random.

Moderation points are earned by posting good comments and having other moderators give you positive points on your posts (+informative, etc.)

You earn karma from making good posts, and lose it by making flamebait and troll posts. Get enough good karma, and you are allotted +5 points to use to critique the posts other make. You cannot post and moderate in the same thread.

Everyone can meta-moderate - a random sample of moderator points used are presented to users to judge whether the moderator in question (anonymous) fairly gave out points to a particular post, or is he abused his power (moderated down a good post, moderated up a troll post.)

It's a fairly decent system that has worked out fine for Slashdot.

You earn karma from riding Linus Torvalds' nuts, and lose it by suggesting that a closed-source program is superior to its OSS clone. Blow enough penguins, and you are allotted +5 points to use to bury the posts other make. You cannot post and moderate in the same thread.

Fixed those typos.

Heh, that was once the case (and still is in certain sectors,) but it's a bit more varied now - kinda like ATOT is no longer all about Alba being perfect, jsut mostly. ;)
