woo hoo! New Seti Record!

datalink7

For me that is😉🙂

I finally got to 50 WU's😱

Now its to 100. Anyone at 50 with 1 computer want to race?

Congrats.

I got 9 work units today, im so proud!

My largest production by a large fold so far

130 -> 139

Congratulations datalink7. 🙂

I have a feeling you are just getting started. 😉

Congrats on your first milestone 🙂

It's always nice to achieve a goal and then move on to the next one.

Go for it.

Dingas,

And a big congratulations to you. 🙂

This dang SETI stuff is infectious. It's already gotten me into NETWORKING, thinking about multiple processors, and TeAm promotion. I'm definitely not bored. 🙂🙂

I am running SETI on one computer here at home. I really did just get started. I did some WU's a while ago, but then didn't do any for a while cause I hadn't reinstalled seti after a reformat. Now I am obsessed. It is kind of funny. I am going to college as a freshman this next fall, and one of the things that I am excited most about is getting a hold of all free computers to install SETI on (I hope that they aren't taken up already). You guys can help me out on that, right?

Hmmm... I wonder if I can get "The Swarm"? This is what they call their super array at Oregon State, where I will attend. THough it is unlikely that I'll even get to see it till upergraduate work, how fast could 650 duel Pentium Xeon 600mhz computers, all linked, do some WU's?

Anyway, thanks for the support!

"ok, sorry about the stupid question, but im new here, what is SETI?"

First of all, it's not a stupid question at all. 🙂 Seti@Home is a program that uses your home PC or PC's to help analyze radio waves from space to look for artificial signals that might be from intelligent beings. Here is a quick summary of the project from Seti's website..

" SETI, or the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, is a scientific effort aiming to determine if there is intelligent life out in the universe. There are many methods that SETI scientific teams use to search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Many of these search billions of radio frequencies that flood the universe, looking for another civilization that might be transmitting a radio signal. Other SETI teams search by looking for signals in pulses of light emanating from the stars.

SETI@home is one of the SETI projects that searches for extraterrestrial life. SETI@home allows anyone with a computer and an Internet connection to take part in the search. By using the computer while the owner is away, the SETI@home screensaver is able to search for extraterrestrial signals. "

congrats!

i've found most labs at UT to have already been assimilated if possible (like the chemintosh lab which doesn't have a login). labs that have logins and are really busy like the smurf lab usually don't have a DC project running. logging out rebuilds the hard drive from the network image, so it'd be hard to get enough time on a computer to finish a WU.

<< logging out rebuilds the hard drive from the network image >>

Wow, are they running ATM or gigabit or something? I would think that would totally overload a 100 Mbps LAN? :Q

You should see if you can get SETI in the image. 🙂

Congrats Datalink7 on hitting 50 WU's 😀 ,you get Beers when you hit 100 WU's 😉

BTW good thinking about future assimilations ,I'm sure you'll get the help when needed 🙂.
Just be sure you do get permission to install SETI!

Dingas
Nice production 🙂 ,I see you'll be another member who will be outproducing me!😛😉
All good for The Team 😀

so all these WU's you guys are working for...what do they do for you? the most Wu's wins? earn 20k Wu's and you get a car? or just earn Wu's to help out the research?

Everyone does Seti@Home for their own reason. I guess some people do it on the slim chance that their computer will be the one to find that signal that could change everything, and some just do it for the satisfaction of being a member of and helping out a team.. To each his own...🙂

Sinister
I do SETI because I liked to be involved in a real attemept to find Alien signals ,& help TA as well of course🙂

I do SETI@Home for the same reasons as Assimilator1, plus it's fun competition. Also cool being part of the TeAm.

If you're going to be doing any assimilations just make sure you have permission to do so. Believe it or not some people don't like DC programs on their PC's. My idiot younger brother is one of them! 😛 But yes, there's a ton of helpful and knowledgable people here who will help you get the client running if you need it.

Congrats on the milestone. Keep 'em coming! 🙂
