how hard would it be to duct the basement?
 
Is this a DIY or hiring a pro? If pro, give a few a call and see if someone will come out to look and let you know. Without knowing the code in your area, I'm not sure what we can tell you.

Issue number one is heater is in the attic which means you need to force all of the hot air down.
 
Congrats now you get to lie in bed a night listening to the storm wondering what you will have to fix tommorrow. 🙂

Yep, congrats. Bought my first home last September at age 25. It's a nice starter home, has everything we wanted. But we've already found in 4+ months time that owning a home is a whole different beast from renting. I'm having to heavily revise my spending habits already 🙁.
