Alright, first of all, hello. First post outta the way!

K so I bought Bad Company 2 yesterday and I suddenly found out I need a new video card. I'm stuck with a 9100(bleh) and am looking to upgrade. The GTX290 looks amazing, but I don't know if I want to spend that much right now to improve an area of my life which is unproductive(if you don't count stats).

Would it be very dumb of me to just buy a 9800? I see prices at 120 right now which seems very reasonable but will I be regretting this decision once I install it? Would I be able to play fullscreen with the highest settings?

gtx290? do you mean gtx295? 120 bucks for a 9800gt is not a very good deal because there are faster cards for the money. you really need to list the rest of your pc specs in detail.

Depends on your monitor resolution, but probably not. I'd suggest at least an HD 5770, but probably more likely an HD 5850 or GTX 460 1GB for Battlefield Bad Company 2.

We really need to know your system specs, monitor resolution, budget, and any other games you play or plan to play.

As for games, right now it's just BC2 with some Day of Defeat mixed in there. Not really big on games, so when I play what I play I want it to be as good as it can be

a 5770 1gb for around 150 bucks would be a much better choice than 9800gt. some of the 5770 1gb cards have rebates on top of that so maybe only even around $130 when its all said and done. you need to list your exact power supply though just to make sure its good enough.

an oem 300 watt psu wont reliably power your system with a 5770 for very long. you would need to get a quality name brand psu around 400 watts or so to be safe.

well at your res a gtx460 would be excellent. I am assuming that you have an HP, Dell or something similar and that case isnt going to have very good air flow. heck your case my not even have any fans at all which would not be a good thing with a gtx460.

Yeah I was lazy this time around and got a premade hp at best buy... I know, bad idea. I may just strip it and put it in a nice cooled case, maybe save up for a 460, too

if your playing at 1920 I'd avoid the 5770 and 460 768. grab the GTX 460 1 GB
