kosher is a bitch. ham is awesome

god really only wanted you to eat things that wouldn't make you sick. and pork doesn't make you sick unless you undercook it. unfortunately god couldn't come down off the mountain and say, "don't eat oysters in months without 'R' in the name," because no one back then would have known wtf he was talking about. heck, probably more likely to get sick eating ground beef than a ham nowadays.

I don't eat shrimp either.
I've never tasted pork or shrimp. :)

So you've never had bacon? Shame.
Bacon is something that can not be missed. :(

Nope, never have. I'm doing fine without it. ;)

Oh dear god. I could not live without bacon. It's so yummy. :(

I only like my bacon one way...extra crispy w/ little or no grease or oil. Soggy limp bacon is the gross!

It may seem like a bitch to those who have never kept it. I don't find it to be a bitch at all. I eat well, just not the same foods that other people eat.

no pork or shrimp? man, that's too bad... perhaps you can try those kosher pork that supposely exist.

at any rate, for those of you who's can eat pork,

here my favorite "shark-fin dumpling"

filling - ground pork 350 gram, minced shrimp 100 gram, 3 chopped shi-take mushroom, 60 gram shark fin, 100 gram minced bamboo shoots, 60 gram minced carrots, 20 gram cliantro, 20 gram spring onion.

filling seasoning - salt 7 gram, sugar 15 gram, corn starch 15 gram, sasame oil 1 tbsp, white pepper powder 1 tsp, MSG 10 gram.

Kosher pork? How does that work? Pork by definition is not kosher, unless it's artificial, in which case I'll pass. :)

Have you ever tried turkey bacon? It's pretty damn good. I'm not big on pork either but damn bacon is so good.

my mom combines shrimp and pork SOMETIMES but you have to mince the shrimp up very finely.

usually i think she just uses pork + finely chopped green onions/scallions + sometimes very finely chopped water chestnuts for crunch

i have no idea what else she puts in there, i know there has to be more to it. perhaps a little garlic.

EDIT since i don't want to try to make it from scratch, i buy those bags of dumplings, steam the dumplings, and put into heated chicken broth for cheap wannabe wonton soup.

something i read in the past where they genetically modified a pig to have a different type of hooves to make them kosher? or maybe they're some sort of rare breed?

I think you might be able to use veal instead of pork.... might be the most expensive wontons you've ever made.

AHHH LUCKY FOR YOU I WORKED IN A CHINESE FOOD RESTAURANT FOR A WHILE! its why i said it in all caps.
heres what you do:
-make chicken broth, or put chicken bones in boiling water
-get wonton wrappers from store and place meat inside, boil the wontons till soft
-and then add pork/scallions/and your good to go

OMFG teh bacon = teh heaven.

And, kosher pork does exist. It's genetically modified so it has a different kind of hooves. (Correct, Pepsei) It tastes about the same as normal pork, but Jewish people can eat it, too. That's the only difference. You won't taste the difference between kosher and non-kosher ham or bacon.
