Won't send to recycling bin

For some reason when i delete files they are not being sent to the recycling bin, i look in the properties and everything seemed to be set fine. Any help?

Not a hardware question, but since you're a n00b:

Are you running Norton or any other utility software that takes over from the normal recycling bin?

Are you deleting using Shift + Delete which bypasses the recycling bin?

No to both, just right click and delete and just hitting delete button, it just automatically deletes it and bypasses the recycling bin. Running Xp Pro on laptop

If it's deleting stuffs permantely instead then Right click the properites in the Recycle Bin and set it up as you want it...

Do you have multiple drive installed? If you do be sure that you have the recycling bin set properly. There is this option for managing each drive independently or managing them all using the same rules. Make sure that you "UNcheck" the line that says "Do Not move file to Recyle Bin. Remove Files Immediately." This tab is the "Global" and can be accessed through right clicking -> properties on the recycling bin.

If this still doesn't work. Then I have to wonder if you have any windows tweaking programs installed? Maybe it got disabled in there instead.

That's important.

Also be aware that if you are accessing files on a different computer on a Windows LAN, deleting files on a remote computer always bypasses the recycle bin.

I went into properties and selected the right stuff, on my desktop however there is a general tab and C: tab, but my laptop, the one that won't send stuff to the bin doesn't have any other tab. I setup a file and print share on my laptop to print from it. But other than that i don't have anything else installed on it. Its Windows Xp Pro and i did a fresh install with it yesterday.

It seems as though I have tried everything, its so annoying that when i delete something it is gone forever. If i needed it i can't restore the deleted item, there isn't anyone who can help?
