Won't do 1st boot and mobo, GPU and peripherals LEDs flashing in "breath mode"

Case and cooler fans are spinning. Mobo, GPU, mouse and keyboard LEDs are all slowly flashing - not downright on/off but rather slowly transitioning, as the breath/weave mode on gaming keyboards. As i turn it off the mobo LEDs continue to flash in that fashion until i unplug the power cable. No bips whatsoever.

Mobo is Asus z170 pro gaming. PSU EVGA G2 850W, which is far more than the system needs atm.

So you're saying you have no video?

Tell us what other components make up the system and what's your experience level?

This thread should really be in Computer Help.

Make sure all the motherboard mounting screws are secure. Make sure your 8-pin cpu power and video power connections are secure.

I've never seen a system with a weave before? Is it one with jerry curls or straight??? Will you please post a picture of this so we can see it? :awe: Really though the blinking pattern of the led's usually tells you something so check your manual and see what it tells you about your particular board.

Yes there is no video or POST beep, yet the mobo, peripherals and GPU LEDs and fans function without interruptions.

I tried to boot with the mobo outside the case to rule out a short but it reacts in the same exact way. Also ruled out the malfunctioning of the GPU and RAM.

The LED breath mode is a feature of the mobo although i don't think the GPU and peripherals should also be affected by that.

Asus Z170 pro gaming, 6700k, asus 390x, ddr4, hyper evo 212, EVGA G2 750W, Corsair 300r, inexperienced at best, some basic knowledge from the web.

First step I always take is to reset the BIOS. Follow the instructions in your manual on page 1-16.

If that doesn't fix it, the next step is to make double sure your processor and memory do in fact work with the board. The BIOS revision is more than likely on the label on the box. I believe ASUS is doing that now. Cross check that BIOS version to the reference chart available at the ASUS site to make your BIOS revision works for that processor.

Memory is not going to be that easy to check. There are tons of different manufacturers, speeds, chips, etc. You may luck out and find in on their compatibility chart. If you don't, it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Additionally, you can try to start the system with everything non-essential disconnected. You need a CPU with power for the cooler connected. The PS obviously with all power connectors attached. One stick of ram and use the onboard video.

Try reseating your GPU, or using the integrated graphics to trouble shoot the no video problem.

FYI, if your case doesn't have a speaker (like the nzxt s340 that I own), then you will never hear the POST beep 🙂
