Wonky behaviour in word

So tonight I'm typing a document in word. At random times and for no apparent reason, the cursor would sudenly jump to somewhere else in the document. As you might imagine, having the cursor bob all over the page at random impedes creativity and slows the creative process. IOW, it sucks out loud.

What could be the cause of this behavior? What is its solution?

I'm running Word 2003 SP1.

My machine is as described in my sig.
