Ok, i have previously tried overclocking my Athlon 64 3000+, but have not gotten poor results ( That being the blue screen of death and somehow screwing up my hard drive?? ).
My guess is is that the CPU is not getting enough voltage ( which i dont know what would be an accurate setting ) or jus because i have no idea how to use the multiplyer. My bios are confusing as hell ( K8T Neo FSR ), so I am wondering if anybody would like to help me with my delema, because i know i could get so much more out of my processor than just stock speeds. Thank You.

Have you tried reading through our wonderful stickys on the top of this forum? They help people who are new to overclocking.

This sounds like memory operating above its stable speed. Did you set a memory divider to keep the memory under 200MHz while you were raising the HTT? Find your max mem speed using memtest before you start playing around with anything else. Memory performance can sometimes be increased by raising the dimm voltage slightly.

You also need to lower the HT/LDT multiplier to keep this below 1000. It defaults to x5 so once you raise HTT above 200, you need to lower to x4, and then after 250, to x3.

If you're raising the HTT gradually, cpu voltage issues dont usually manefest until you run something heavy duty like Prime95. So you would normally be able to boot windows but you'd fail the Prime95 torture test. At this point, raise the vcore slightly & run the test again.

Reading the sticky threads is definately advisable.

You won't be overclocking very high... :( The MSI K8T Neo FSR is based on the Via K8T800 chipset, and that one doesn't lock the AGP and PCI buses... The data corruption is because of your SATA controller crapping out, which is a known issue with mobo's on that chipset...

Via only introduced the lock on their K8T800 Pro chipsets...

EDIT: The maximum HT lies around 215MHz...

m8, time for a better motherboard. Its a shame to let the potential of that cpu go to waste. If you're on a budget & cant afford to upgrade the video card to pci-e, then the Epox 9NDA3+/9NDA3J or Gigabyte K8NSC-939 are cheap nforce3 options. The ASRock 939A8X-M, based on the Uli M1689 chipset, is supposed to a good budget overclocking board too. Check out the AT motherboard forums for more info.

sorry m8, just assumed. didnt even check your mobo  Epox do the EP-8KDA3J & EP-8KDA3+ which are both nForce3 but I have no idea what they're like. The specs look good & the price is usually keen. I'm quite pleased with my Epox. I'm sure there's plenty of other suitable candidates too. Like I say have a look in the mobo forums. There's heaps more folks out there who know sh1tloads about 754. What features/price are you looking for?

Also what cooler are you using? If you going to oc, you'll need a good one. The Arctic Cooling 64 Pro is surprisingly cheap for such an excellent cooler.
