It should as there is still a physical player there. It could be the type of cloak that has little cameras and just displays what is behind the player and cloaks it that way so there would be shadows still cus you are still blocking the light and your suit just shows an image of what's behind them.

Likely. This was discovered way back in early beta phase so it's probably not a bug.

It's because your cloak just is like a camera or fiberoptics that shows what's behind it

Maybe instead of the little camaras and projectors.. it will be more uber to have some sort of light translucent conductor lol! in where the light rays run around the cloacked surface and then they keep going the way it should be in the other side... no shadows there since the light keep going through you lol... but i guess that is too much for 2020 lol...

as long as we are on the topic, what the hell is the point of the cloak? I've never really had a scenario to use it...and if you move an inch, your energy is depleted.

I use it all the time to get surprise shots on enemies. If you know what you're doing, you can use speed+cloak to zoom between cover, come out cloaked, and kill enemies silently. You can also put mines and stuff in front of enemy convoys as they approach. It's also good for surveying an enemy camp before you attack.

I just started playing this game. I find the cloak to get the enemies off your back so that you can dug and fire to more easily eliminate the turret guys.

Nah, I'd say that is too much for always. I don't think there is a possibility to create a true sci-fi cloak where you completely disappear so much that there is no evidence you are there, including no shadow.

As was said earlier, current cloak technology being developed is relying on basically smoke and mirrors - taking tiny cameras and tiny displays and showing whats on the other side at roughly the same angle of view. Even with nano design tech, this type will always create a sort of see-through but shiny, very confusing to the eye light distortion pattern where the cloaked subject is located.

About the only other way for a cloak that I can imagine, would be to take advantage of the physics property of bending light, but I think that, even with advanced knowledge far off in the future, could only be used in space. What I am envisioning is taking advantage of gravitational pull of very dense matter, which bends light. But this is basically a singularity, with the only other known matter capable of pulling that off being dark matter, aka something out there that we cannot explain. Without getting into the little astronomy/physics knowledge that I have regarding dark matter and making this a lengthy post... suffice it to say, even if THAT could be used while on a planet, and somehow used on a person, and they could live let alone move, etc etc... there would be visual clues that cloaking was being used. Objects behind the cloaked individual, depending on line of sight of the viewer, would appear as deceptive projections on both sides of the cloaked person. So a shrub would appear distorted and mirrored on both sides.

Suffice it to say, real cloaking, once put into reality and perfected to the best of our ability, will still give away the position to the very attentive eye, and will still cast a shadow.

Cloaking will work best in situations where someone is not actively looking for you at a known location, so you could sneak around outside of an enemy base and only the most discerning and attentive eyes will even notice anything unless you go snapping twigs and moving bushes/leaves... but inside of a base it would probably never work, and if they are looking for you and you were to cloak and run away, the visual "artifacts" will give you away quickly...

which is actually sweet, because Crysis represents that perfectly. Using the cloak works for sneaking only to some extent, and you can sneak past someone if they aren't paying attention/looking for you... but as soon as you give yourself away that cloak will only give you a little help in running away.

Cloak + uncloak + quick headshot + cloak

Rinse, lather, repeat. I love that.

How do the weapons stay cloaked? I understand about the nano-suit, with all the fancy nano techs, but the weapons don't have any cloaking device.

They can see you lifting stuff, so I would assume the guns shouldn't be cloaked.

Cloak mode made the entire game EZ mode. Don't walk around much in it, stand and scout or aim

Yeah, makes you think why the cars don't take advantage of the same. ;)
