So the wife and I have 10K saved up for the upcoming semester. This is supposed to cover housing, food, misc, and emergencies. We're looking for a place to live. We've been trying to find sublet rooms in the Worcester area. They go for from $300-$450 per month. The thing is after speaking with about 3 different people, they don't want married couples living with them. So now we have to seek other options. One bedroom apartments go from $500-$700 per month. We don't have cars or significant debts to pay yet. And all of these include all utilities. So essentially we'd only have to pay for housing+food. Food running maybe $200 a month (we cook). 10k makes us feel good going the apartment route (we get a place to ourselves). And we won't get jobs until we're comfortable with the area. What do you guys think?

Yeah, not including tuition and car (we don't drive/own a car).
