Wondering if this would be such a good idea or not..

I'm in shop class and we've got tons of cars the students work on as project cars, all of the cars that come in are from donations. We get so many donations that we have to get rid of the cars but before we do, we basically take out the parts that are worthwhile. So ATM we have an Acura Legend '89 that is there because it's basically dead, though I can't remember it's issue. So the car is going to the wrecking yard soon and basically we're going to get squat for it, my idea was though that before we send it to the wrecking yard, I would go and part out the damn thing.

So I'm wondering, is this a good idea? I'm trying to think of what parts I could probably part out from this thing and I would either take the parts out and bring them home or I should just take the damn car off of his hands and then deal with it. One thing though is that I don't think it would be such a good idea to have a car sitting around while I attempt to part it out on ebay so....

What kind of condition is the interior in?

Browse an Acura Legend forum and see what people are shopping around for, might be able to sell a few hundred dollars worth like that.

poke around on a couple acura forums and ebay and see what seems to sell...if it looks worthwhile, yank the parts before you get rid of it and give it a shot...can't hurt to try it

yea do that and go on ebay and see how much parts for that year or few years that model was made go for/

If the body is in good shape you can make decent money off the quarter panels, fenders, doors etc. if you can find people either restoring or repairing their car. Also, interior parts that may be prone to breaking or cracking can often be sold, but this is of course if the interior is in good shape. I wouldnt try and salvage anything from the engine itself since people don't really want parts from a dead engine (except maybe valve cover etc). Also, any glass pieces like the windshield or the pieces in the doors are always worth something. Just some ideas to help

Shop teacher doesn't care if I make money off of it either but that does spark an idea.. One of the lifts was damaged by an artard and had to be removed, I supposedly could take some of the funds from that and put it towards another lift. Hmm....

How would I be able to sell stuff like the windshields etc..? For the interior stuff, well the seats are garbage but the dashboard is in pretty damn good condition which was very surprising. For the exterior body on the other hand..it really needs a paint job as it's cracking but otherwise seems alright. Here is the list I have so far:

Front Headlights, Possibly rear
Brake light rear in car/on windshield
car handles with lock (exterior and interior)
side mirrors
center console?
Radio
Dashboard
Brake/gas pedal
Hood release
vents
door interior lights
window switch console
Interior roof lights
ash trays

and I guess possibly engine parts..

My friend used to have an '88 Acura Legend and it kicked ass. I wouldn't be surprised if there was something worthwhile left in the car.
