Hey, I just ordered a sapphire 9500 PRO to replace my old geforce 3 ti200 (going in the other PC). I mainly upgraded to bea ble to run games on the new Unreal engine better, hopefully be able to max out everything with Half-Life 2, and just be able to run Doom 3 at acceptable frames (might be a stretch here). Anyways, my important specs are:

-Athlon XP 1800+
-512MB PC2100
-(being shipped) 9500 Pro
-Win XP

I was wondering if anyone with a similair system could tell me what kind of frames they get in games like UT2k3, UT2, and Battlefield.

Like I said I'm mainly looking forward to Deus Ex 2, Doom 3, and Half-life 2 - do you think this was a pretty reasonable purchase (I did read the anandtech article recommending to hold off, but - being a student, if I upgrade it pretty much has to happen while I work in the summer. I'm also hoping Doom 3 is a bit more optomized before it is released).

Thanks for you help and time.

I dont have exactely the same system, but heres what i think will run on yours. Most of these are educated guess`s
HL2, Probably around 1024x768 with max or near max details. Might have to turn the physics engine down a notch if it supports it.
Doom3, 800x600 or maybe 1024x768 with medium details.
DeusEx2. Probably 1024x768 with near max details.

Read this doom benchmark review on hardocp for details.

Keep in mind, im guessing here as best as i can from the information that i have.

Sweet.

The card just arrived today, and I'm just backing up all my stuff before I reformat (don't want to deal with the Nvidia to ATI switch issues), I'll let you know how it turned out.

Thanks for all the help.

You made a good choice there. I tryed going strait from a GF3Ti200 to a 9700PRO.
I did everything i was supposed to do, removed all drivers, reg enteries, ran driver cleaner, removed anything to do with nvidia, but i still got crap performance, graphical errors, stability problems, ect;
So i reformatted and started afresh. And all the problems went away. Havnt had a major problem since.
