Wondering about ATI Vs. Nvidia PCI-E...

I am almost ready to buy a good upper end vid card. PCI-E of course. I am hearing so many people that have a studder issue with Nvidia GFX cards. WHat results is the ATI crowd getting with the Nforce4 Ultra/SLI chipset???

This card looks appealing..It is almost clocked as high as the 6800Ultra.. But for $200 less.

Just wanted to hear what you all have to say about the ATI card and the NF4 Ultra/SLI chipset.

That card is actually faster the a 6800 U in almost every game. So yeah if you into getting a new top of the line video card that one will be sweet.

Oh, and that card is the good shit!

In my workstation I used to have a Wildcat Realizm 800 for rendering and a Sapphire X850 for in-engine testing and gaming.

Hmm..$500 for a videocard...seems crazy to me....no improvement in frames makes that worthwhile IMHO....

Nvidia and ATI are getting away with murder ...damn the lack of competition

Hopefully that's sarcasm not ignorance.

You do realize that ATI and nVidia have been doubling the performance of their cards at all price points every 1.5 - 2 years, don't you?

And that a $200 6600GT is faster than the 9800XT that cost $400 just over a year ago?

you should look for 6800U below $500, since you can SLI 6800U, but not X850. SLI ATI doesn't come out yet, so safe way right now is nVidia. Check Chumbo.com, they have X850 cheaper, last time I saw it was 480.

I question the logic of spening $500 or more on a graphics card when one could build and entirely new system for that price.

that's smart :|. get 1 ultra while it's good, then when you can get another video card at a better value, buy another ultra. that makes sense.

save your money and buy for NOW, not the future.

No sarcasm...sorry I do not believe they are doubling performance....every yr..the 9800 was faster than 9700 but not 2x and pretty sure even the X800 was not 2x faster than 9700pro....even if it was $400-600 for a videocard or more ...

Prices are not dropping ..in fact there is IMHO too much gouging

I just got a 6800NU from BFG after rebates and coupons it was like $150-200(Ihad a gift card)..but it has a broken vpu unit I had no idea...jeez nvidia can not even provide what they promise

6800 NU(which I was able to unlock fully) is faster than my 9700pro ... faster for sure
alot of issues with nvidia and NF3 chipset no less...stuttering is a problem....

nvidia seems to be dong nothing to address it..from chipset or videocard side

Both ATI(my preferred vendor but they can not even deliver there product ot market) and Nvidia make good cards..both have issues...but I am not spending this money

PCi-express has little advantage but $$$ premium since it is the new thing on the block

sorry I am not helping in this thread...
