Woah, I've been really naive about it up until reading that article. I didn't know the supply and demand factor was there for such profitable schemes like this.

I don't play WoW, but I've heard the term "Chinese Farmers" mentioned by online friends who play WoW. I really thought they were true farmers from China who all liked to play the game as a group. :Q

Seriously, for someone who doesn't play MMORPGs, then how I am I to know that "Chinese Farmers" isn't a guild name or something? The times I've seen the term used is just as such -- no background or description included.

The only MMORPG game I've played is Asheron's Call, and I quit that nearly 3 years ago. In it's prime, sure AC had it's share of macroers and people running bots, but nothing like this.
