Why is it a whole department gets devoted to the study of women? What is that about? I dont see a mens studies department.

I am declaring shenannigans (sp?).

women....theres a can of worms you could spend years studying, and not get 😀

Understanding women is kind of like understanding philosophical theory. Ever try to decipher one of Moonbeam's posts?

What exactly is Women studies about? I mean what do they teach in that? I am some one is gonna say "Well it's a very hard subject, and I spent tons of hours studying it". I can declare Counter Strike as a major, and make is exceedingly hard, like documenting and analying every game and move, and writing a report on it. Would that make is a worth while major? NO!

My g/f is minoring in this BS. I'm not terribly pleased about it. My favorite classes for her to take are the feminist ones. Luckily she doesn't agree with most of it. 🙂

My ex is a Women's Studies major. We're still good friends and she's a cool girl. She's really realistic about it though, not your stereotypical feminazi. She's a real feminist; equal opportunity type thing just like most people really are. It seems to be mostly about the history of women's rights, how women are seen in different cultures etc...

She won't be able to do anything with the diploma (it's NOT a degree, just a 4 year diploma program), but she's going to go into social work and be a social worker later.

Hmmm......so let's spend a bunch of money going to college to learn how to hate men an obtain a diploma that entitles us to crap jobs and since we chase men away with our anger and BS we can't even land some guy to take care of us.......makes sense.

Dude, you're a 'tard. That's NOT what women's studies is about.

I admit that's what I thought at first too, and I wasn't happy about her going into it, but once she did and told me what she was studying, my ideas changed.

There are some women who are just plain mad at men, and some of these take women's studies, and then they go out spouting sh!t, but they do not represent the women in this program or their views. You're just as bad as the feminazis. They hate men because they're men, and blame the rape of a single girl on an entire gender. You have already made up your mind about the program and the women in it without knowing sh!t about what it's REALLY about. Get a fvcking clue dude.

My ex is not a feminazi, nor are many of the people in her program, but some are. The feminazis are who they are not because of the courses they took, but for other reasons for which I couldn't say.

First of all I'm not a dude, second I'm not a tard, and third I was joking around and having some fun. You seem a little defensive and lack a sense of humor.....are you harboring some latent metrosecxual tendencies? 😉

Maybe make it a little more obvious next time? It looked like you were trying to be an ass.

Sorry if I came off too strong, but my ex doesn't tell most people what she's studying anymore because everyone assumes she's a feminazi. Kinda sucks.

Women's Studies consist of short-haired pissed off dykes wielding a castration tool ready to mutilate their "oppressors", aka men.

Going by what I have read on this forum, alot of you guys have no idea about what the world was like 35 years ago.

Before Women Studies existed everything was about men.

Back then everything was about white males

And with jackasses like you roaming around, here's to hoping women's studies curriculums show up everywhere in the next ten years.

One could argue that all of human history is, mostly, about men and what they've done in the world. And that's as it should be, since for many thousands of years in most of the world, men controlled it. However, that doesn't mean women did nothing and didn't exist until the ERA movement. No one bitches and moans about Black Studies (or at least not as vocally), but it's basically the same thing: a marginalized minority that is now experiencing the ability to study their history in a more complete way.
