Out of pocket is $1500?

This is how I look at it, as a conservative leaning adult male: I've never used government assistance my entire life (I'm closing in on age 40). I don't plan to use any in the future. I've never once had hand outs from the government. So pay the $1500 and stop asking "what more I can get from the government and tax payers?"

If everybody has my mentality, we wouldn't be $18 trillion in debt. It's $1500!!! Big deal! Live without cable for a year, and you have it just about made.

But by your OWN ASSERTIONS it did both:
1. It provided better coverage by covering ligations
2. It provided better coverage by allowing your daughter to be on your insurance.
3. It is more affordable, saving you $2,000 to 5,000 dollars.

All of your evidence contradicts your own claims! How is this NOT a troll thread?

Tubals were always offered under my health plan.

The only thing the ACA changed was the age.

The ACA makes it easier for women to find birth control options; it doesn't make every single procedure free. And she already has an IUD; what does she need a tubal ligation for at this point?

How did the ACA make birth control options easier for women to get?

As far as I can tell the ACA did not change a single thing for helping women obtain permanent birth control options.

So then you are saying this thread is not about your daughter.

And you have made yet another thread about pudding.

The opening post clearly stated step-daughter.

It is called trying to be responsible.

What is she supposed to do? The family has all the children they can afford, but they can not afford a tubal.

Its like a catch 22.

People complain about low income families having so many kids. But permanent birth control options are not an option.
Tell your daughter to stop sleeping around, and tell her husband to get a vasectomy. A vasectomy is a trivial procedure that used to often be done right in doctor's offices. A tubal ligation is much more serious surgery. That's a permanent procedure that's far more affordable.

There's at least one understandable reason.

A vasectomy is not your choice to make.

As far as I know, the ACA did not make tubals more affordable, nor did it make anything better.

Tubals have always been covered under health insurance.

I am going to guess you are a male, and you are used to telling women what to do.

Correct, because they clearly don't have a flipping clue on how to do things themselves. You're also the one that let your wife control the finances and then paid the price on that one as well.

Condoms, use them. Or pay the subsidized cost and move on.

But this is a troll thread at this point and continuing to discuss this topic with you is fruitless, much like the mulberry trees I have in my back yard.

Edit:
A vasectomy is not your choice to make.

The vasectomy is the most logical choice
People have to make choices everyday, this one is based on finances and the fact the guy already has 3 kids and health wise its much simpler than TL

Wasn't the ACA supposed to directly address womens health needs?
This has zero to do with women's health needs. This isn't a need, it's a personal preference for elective procedure.

So why aren't long term birth control options more affordable? Especially for working class / low income families?
What does Norplant cost? Birth control pills? IUD? Millions of women use those for long term birth control.

If a woman wants a tubal, shouldn't it be affordable and easy to get?
It's your insurance plan. Ask them. It has nothing to do with ACA. Why should elective surgery be provided cheaply when there are other alternatives. Under my insurance it would cost me $25 for a tubal.

What is she supposed to do? The family has all the children they can afford, but they can not afford a tubal. Its like a catch 22.
No it isn't. She can prevent pregnancy for as long as she wants without a tubal.

What do you mean my plan covers eyeglasses but not LASIK? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.
Exactly. But I want LASIK as a long term option instead of glasses. Shouldn't it be provided cheaply especially for low income folks? Silly argument in this case and silly argument for Texashiker.

A vasectomy is a trivial procedure that used to often be done right in doctor's offices. That's a permanent procedure that's far more affordable.
But it wouldn't fit his faux outrage at women's health issues not being addressed. He had to really reach for this one.

Comdoms are not your choice to make.

What subsidized cost?

People complain about low income families bringing too many kids into the world. But what other option is there? Take pills and get an IUD until menopause kicks in?

We have a basic human right to decide what happens to our bodies.

I refuse to get a vasectomy, nor will I ever ask a man to get one.

It is her body, shouldn't she have the right to make decisions without men telling her to take a pill or her husband to get a vasectomy?

Did you read the thread? Have you taken the time to read anything I have posted?

In review,

She already has an IUD.

She is interested in a longer more permanent option besides the pill, shot or IUD.

So she'd rather go through major surgery instead of asking her husband to get an outpatient procedure? That's pretty sad. Unless he's planning on having more children, then I don't see the problem.

Newsflash!!!:

You can't use hormonal birth control forever. Tis not good for a woman's body.

You say F U OBAMA, YER DAMN ACA DON'T WORK FOR MEH!! IT's EXPENSIVE!!!

Then. Use. Condoms. Forever.

I'm interested in having a Thai hooker blow me 3 times a week.

Should the government cover that?

Do you care about the hooker's sex? We could probably arrange this relatively inexpensively if you weren't that picky.

The only thing this thread has accomplished is making me realize nehalem hasn't posted in quite a while. That is all.

Here we go back to this I, I, I,,, stuff.

It is not your decision to make, it is hers.

If she wants a tubal, isn't there something we as a nation can do to make it easier for her to access?

I do not understand why so many men in the thread want to control a womans body? This seems just opposite of the abortion threads. Where is the discussion of empowerment and women making choices for their body that usually goes along with this kind of topic?

It seems to me you liberals have suddenly turned into GOP women haters.

what...the...fuck...$1500 is easy to access. Take a peek at the bill after it's done, you'll see just how affordable it was made for her.

$1500 is almost a third less than is costs us to have our second child. Sounds pretty damn affordable to me.
