- For men, our waist size is ACTUALLY our waist size in inches.
- For men, our shoe size is ACTUALLY our feet size in inches.

- For women, your waist size is based on WHAT???? And how can someone's waist ever be a zero? Or negative?
- For women, your shoe size is based on WHAT????

It's all very interesting.

And how can someone's waist ever be a zero?

It's a different scale that women have and learn. It tries to take into account their entire body shape. But it often fails.

It is even more complicated than you think. There are Petites (short), Juniors (young body type), Regular (common) and Woman (overweight).

My wife is petite and wishes she was taller because the selection of clothes is superior.

I have asked that question before, and was told that it's pretty much a matter of marketing rather than objective measuring.

It has always confused me how a woman that is 5 feet tall and a woman that is 5'10" can both wear a size 8.  Maybe this thread will finally shed some light on this dilemma for me.

only americans use the 0-whatever scale. Europeans are more standardized on metric sizes, womens and mens at like 28-42.

Its cause american girls like to think they are skinny when they are wearing a size 10 or something. I think the average size of a Woman is like 12-14 right?

Linflas:

The scale is different for petites (short), juniors (misses), regular (average height/tall), and woman (overweight, short or tall) but still uses 0-24 or higher.

I think this whole clothing size thing is wack. Like someone said - the European system actually makes more sense.

And don't even get me started on underwear. For example - I wear a size 9/10 in clothes. If I picked a size 10 underwear it would be a freaking tent.
I wear size 6 underwear. It doesn't correspond with clothing size whatsoever :|

It is more complicated than you could possibly imagine. Don't even bother to try and found out...

(BTW, I think i have figured out the Windogg mystery. He AND his girlfreidn both post under the same name! Thats why one day we see Windogg in the Mens Bathroom thread talking about you-know-what, and the next we see him/her in the Lingerie thread talking about the best brands! ;) )

dude you know what is whack, girls have another size for pantyhoses! too.

i saw some at the publix called "BIG MAMA PANTYHOSES" hehe

I think women should start with a basic size, and use vectors to indicate
the fit. like size 5 vector 70 degrees distance 6 inches

this is why women's departments tend to have like quadruple the number of dressing rooms that guy's do. :)

See, we can just grab a pair of paints, look at some numbers and walk off. My girfriend still can't figure that out. "How do you know they'll fit?!?". heh heh heh.

Just figure out what size your woman wears, ALL THE SIZES. Like, you need to know what size pants, bra size, panty size, ex ex sm/ex sm/sm/med/lg shirt size, etc. ah! This is why the only clothing I will ever buy a woman is a sweatshirt, which I can guestimate pretty accurately and not get myself in trouble. "Why did you buy me size 5 pants?!? DO I LOOK FAT?!" or "I can't fit into these! you want me to be skinnier!". AHHHHHHHH! WOMEN EVIL. RUN. AH!

phil, 'tis a vicious circle with women...

I once bought her medium sized panties from VS, and she wore a small. I started WW3 right then and there =].
