and, ofcourse:

There are, however, advantages to being the strong, silent type. Dr Brizendine explains that testosterone also reduces the size of the section of the brain involved in hearing - allowing men to become "deaf" to the most logical of arguments put forward by their wives and girlfriends.

this was written by a woman. biased. i know so many woman that have never heard of the word logic in their life.

I agree. The phrase "to the most logical of arguments put forward by their wives and girlfriends" utterly ruins the credibility of the article.

WTF is up with women.. They spend like 3 hours telling you about 5 minutes worth of crap, then get angry at you when you ignore them..

I'll admit.. I'm guilty of zoning out.. But I feel more and more like I have a complete right to zone out when I'm being told stuff not so that I hear and comprehend, but so that the person telling it can hear themselves tell it.

Do they seriously believe that men think about sex every 52 seconds? I know I certainly don't. If that were the case, nothing would ever get done and we would still be living in caves.

Edited for spelling.

I heard a theory once. Long ago in the hunter gatherer societies, men would be not talk as much due to spending long hours hunting and not wanting to spook potential game. Women, who would be left at home, would "chit chat" as they did the daily chores.

This has ingrained us men to be able to be in a group of men and not have to chit chat or talk. We're perfectly fine not saying anything. Women in groups have the urge to chit chat and view silence as disrespectful or rude.

Who knows.....

lol give us a break.... women? logical? hahaha. especially when women get upset or emotionally charged any shred of rational and logic thought goes west.

maybe thats the difference... what is illiogical and irational to men, is logical and rational to women and vice versa.

my gf could chit chat for england im sure..... half the time she turns up to training and 30mins in to the session she's still dry, mouth going double time to all the other girls on the poolside

and now that she mentions girls liking the sound of their own voices, i have noticed in commitee meetings that the girls will almost always have an answer to everything all at once....its like a competition to see who can talk first lol

then all the guys turn round and are like " thats a retarded idea STFU"

Studies have shown that while a man will think about sex every 52 seconds, the subject tends to cross women's minds just once a day, the University of California psychiatrist says.

Does this mean that all men are perverts? :Q

I was just throwing it out there, because I don't think this whole "52 seconds" thing is right at all.

EDiT: I mean, jesus, she is pretty much saying that we think about it continuously.

A psychoanalyst I know once told me, 'women talk, men talk about stuff'. I think he meant that women can talk about themselves, the future, their lives in general, etc, for hours without reaching a conclusion; while men want a specific topic to argue about, like cars or computers.

And I'm pretty sure I don't think about sex every 52 seconds. Perhaps that little factoid came from measuring sexual centers of the brain which are being activated subconsciously when we look at a woman. If that's the case I'm sure you could reproduce the results for any brain function - I bet the mathematical centers of my brain are active every 52 seconds, or whenever I see or hear a number, but that doesn't mean I'm 'thinking about maths'...

Did we really need an entire book about this? I think we all knew women talk more than men. I also disagree about the "every 52 seconds thing" and thats in interesting hypothesis Atheus.

I don't talk much because I tend to talk quickly, and try to put in too many details about what I want to convey that people just get bored or lost, and they stop listening. So if I need to talk, I try to be very concise, too often to the point of losing meaning.

I also don't like that. I really don't care what someone's shoes look like, nor do I need a detailed pro and con analysis of said purchase. (This can be men or women talking though.) And then there's those people? Who talk in questions? Everything they say? It's like a question? There's someone like that where I work? Thank god she talks to someone else? And not me? Or I'd probably go completely insane and start laughing while she's talking?

Hm, must have been thinking about sex again.

I favor the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy theory. I think it was Ford Prefect's thinking, that if humans stopped talking for too long, either their jaws would seize up, or their brains would stop working.
