They should have offered to put them in the cargo hold with the other livestock.

Take that sensitivity training!

I fucking hate fat people so the more shame and misery we can pour on them the better.

they need something like this:

for seats. If you can't fit, you need to buy another seat... plain out and simple. Or make the gate you walk through only 17inches wide (this may be going too far)

I have gotten stuck sitting next to a fat person one too many times and it irritates the hell out of me. It makes it a miserable experience for me when someone's fat spills over into my seat.

Hell I would totally support a price per pound flight rate. If they do it for luggage, why not do it for the people too?

The daughter looks like she would fit in a seat, tight fit, but she'd do ok. The mother is wider and probably wouldn't fit. What sucks is the person next to someone the size of the mother. They would get the squeeze put on them. The mother really needs to buy two seats if she is going to fly.

The daughter says she's not looking for any compensation, just sensitivity training for those involved. So that would mean they won't sue... we shall see.

I have a solution to all of this.

Make the seltbelts sized for normal people. If you require an extension to the seatbelt, you must buy another seat. Have testing seats at the gate or terminal.

No more guessing or telling people they are too fat. Either you can safely wear the normal seatbelt or you can't. If you can't then you must buy another seat.

it probably wouldn't sit well with a lot of people for a 5'2" / 200 lb woman to have to pay less than a 6'5" / 230 lb man.

and, of course, some people are ridiculously sensitive about the idea of sharing their weight with a total stranger.

Lulz, let's put a carny in charge and they'll guess your weight then verify with that ridiculous scale they use.
