This is annoying me so much I can barely watch the game.. Does a women sportscaster annoy me? a little.. Can I get over a sidelines girl? ya..

But.. this girl is the main sportscaster and she's talking with an artificially deep voice. It's driving me nuts. It's like she's trying to be 'one of the boys' or something.

Why the hell is there a need for women to be announcers in football?

I guess it wouldn't piss me off if the way she sounds wasn't so damn fake. Talk in your normal voice! Argh.

Male sportscasters such as John Madden have set the bar so high, women can't possibly meet the audience's standards :)

Your attempt at bleeding-heart political correctness has failed.

He's not gay, he just doesn't like women with a large Adam's apple bellowing out the plays while he's trying to watch the game.

While you may enjoy the feeling of a woman's stubbly 5 o' clock shadow brushing against your soft ears while she tells you goodnight with a voice that makes Barry White jealous, that sentiment is not shared by everybody.

It is a tad bit annoying, but she's been commentator for games like two or three years now. It becomes bearable over time.

And no, she's not hot.

 I've seen several games this year with a female play by play announcer. Dosn't bother me. The OP (and you apparently) have to accept the fact that there are 50 games a week being televised now. That's a lot of people to have to put in the booth. Occasionally you're going to run across Michelle Tafoya and others. I simply accept it as the nature of the universe.

I'd be willing to accept it if there was a female announcer who could pull it off, but I just haven't seen it yet. So far, the ones I've seen either look like they should be holding pom-poms and cheering on the sidelines, or they've been butch.

This woman has been doing play by play for football games for years. She did the MPC computers bowl in 2004 when Fresno State beat Virginia.

In other news, the illinois QB throws a pick with 1:12 left. I'd say this game is over. Iowa 10, Illinois 6.

Enron was in business for years, too.

We blew that game in so many ways it's hard to find one we didn't use.

And every male announcer does a good job?

Please show me where I said that. I didn't. You simply have no point and are trying to concoct one.

The problem is that your only criticism of them seems to be that they're either too sexy or not sexy enough. Does that mean that John Madden has just the right amount of sexiness for you , or that for some reason it doesn't matter when it's a guy?

No.

The problem is that they're often pretty but have no understanding of the game, or they're butch and have no understanding of the game. In both cases they seem to be there as a result of tokenism rather than for their abilities.

Madden is not there for token reasons. He has an in-depth knowledge of the game, played in the NFL, was a Super Bowl-winning head coach with one of the best records in history, and is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. (It probably wasn't the smartest idea for you to use him as an example)

This has less to do with their gender and more to do with their usefulness. Being male does not guarantee that they'll be a good broadcaster, as some seem to either have no purpose or are just annoying. You can include Dennis Miller and Tony Kornheiser on that list.

Understand the game maybe; but the football mindset no.

Sexist or not its the truth.

The only good news is the commentator we're talking about sounds like a man.
