Women sports announcers--why ???

In the last few years, I have seen more and more women sports announcers in the wild. Why is ? I mean, seeing them on the side lines or interviewing in the stands, its one thing. But reporting the highlights the next day ? And doing the play by play at hockey or baseball/football--is that around the corner ?

My first reaction is to mute the volume and just watch the video. But then , after a while I feel, not guilty but a little out of date. So then I it turn and listen to that high-pitched voice of a reporter who has never played the game and doesn't wise crack on the play. So I turn it down again.

Is it only T&A moving these careers along or am I missing something here, not listening to those voices of the opposite species ?

So much this. What the hell are all these women with their frilly high pitched voices and their plain non-wise cracking commentary doing to our beloved sports when they should be at home making our dinners. It's all a bunch a liberal feminazi agenda pushing if you ask me.

I hope when I'm a prickly old bastard like the OP, someone makes a meme out of me.

How do you know they never played the game? Maybe they love the sport as well and know it inside and out. And the last comment - sounds like something straight out of the 1950s. Did you ever think that maybe they move up in the ranks because they're good at their job?

I take it the OP is going for some like Colbert-esque conservative caricature troll? I seem to recall him posting similar over the top ridiculous nonsense from that angle on other topics.

Also baffling, people pointing out the blatantly ridiculousness of the post, but ignoring that he calls women an "opposite species"?

And then we have this gem:
Just because I got the facts wrong doesn't mean my opinion is worthless.

The internet is going to be tough in the future, its going to be damn near impossible to tell if people are being sarcastic, trolling, or legitimately believe the shit they post.

I used to play out an ultra conservative right wing nut job in p and n. I got away with it for a couple of years before people started seeing through the shtick. Now I have to word my sarcasm a little more blatant. :(

I not a troll, you're just not paying attention. The OP is me. The last few opinions before the picture got to erroneously claiming I wanted women pregnant barefoot and in the kitchen which is way beyond what I said or suggested. Exaggeration though is often well meant, to make a point, on a forum so I went along with it. I had some fun with that point which, to repeat is not me .The OP is me--see the difference ?

But people like you , now I'm not so sure. Where you remember me from was telling you to STFU and put your trash, on one thread ,in P&N where it belonged. Now you are dissing me for that but again you got it all wrong.

Well I am conservative and if that is against the rules here then show me where. So I should not be criticized for that . If you just like criticizing conservative people, perhaps the nut is closer to home ?

I have a question for you. I assume you are a male. If so why the feminine avatar ?

WTF? Yeah I know who you are. I was not responding to the immediate post of yours before mine, just your OP and the thread in general. How that's not totally obvious, well you, like many people presenting similar opinions to yours, seems to exhibit a clear lack of basic level understanding of far too many things.

I don't know what you're referencing. I'm guessing based on what you're saying is that you posted similar shitty opinion and like John Connor on here, then bitched because people didn't agree with it, not because its a "conservative" opinion, but because its a nonsensical opinion that is based on almost outright idiocy. Idiocy that is on such a level that its difficult to discern if you actually believe it or are acting like an over the top caricature of someone attempting to exaggerate (which is near impossible now because of the rampant level of over the top willful idiocy and outright malice of the people dominating conservative viewpoints). I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to post political shit in Off Topic, I just respond when other people do or the topic is overtly political.

Well I am conservative and if that is against the rules here then show me where. So I should not be criticized for that . If you just like criticizing conservative people, perhaps the nut is closer to home ?

See, he's responding to my post. Get it? He was making a point about how he was doing exactly what I was talking about. See it was my post.

Ok, now its pretty obvious you're not a troll, you're just a, now typical, conservative person who seems to lack massive awareness, and ability to comprehend basically any level of nuance. Its like you guys went "fucking Libruls misrepresenting our viewpoints, this is how we really are!" (which then actually not only lives up to the over the top caricature that comedy people, exaggerating for effect, have created, but actually furthers it so that the exaggerated caricatures now appear to be toned down versions of the reality). The irony would be hilarious but you're basically incapable of understanding it. And then funneling your anger about that into heinous beliefs and political actions.

I have a question for you. I assume you're a modern living human. Why the statue/bust of Julius Caesar avatar? o_O:D

I have trouble with any sportscaster who is just a talking head and has no passion or real knowledge of the sport they are reporting on. I can do without eye-candy women who just read the teleprompter, but I do enjoy ether sex reporters who understand the game and make it more interesting. This means it's easier to listen to women report on sports they actually play. I'm not sure I'd be as warm to a female NFL or MLB announcer as I am to tennis announcers and such.

So, it's not about the reporters sex for me, it's about networks thinking we want looks over substance, which is the classic battle women fight in the workplace.

Your problem is that instead of saying you don't like bad sports reporters, you just don't like sports reporters who are female, period.

I just watch football and football highlight shows, and there are some women involved. Haven't seen an issue yet.
