In your experience, who has been a beter doctor for you or do you prefer? A male or female doctor? I'm just asking out of curiosity for my girlfriend.

Either is fine in terms of general health, but I definitely prefer a female gyno. Unfortunately my health plan SUCKS so I've been assigned to male gyno's every time (including one old enough to be my grandfather who I got a really horrible feeling from and who performed some weird procedure on me I found out later I didn't need... LONG story, if I can't have babies I'll sue).

Current gyno is a nice black man, he explains things thoroughly so I guess I'm as happy as I can be with a male one (would really, really, really prefer a female though).

Makes no difference to me what-so-ever.
when I was younger, I felt more comfortable with a female gyno. But in my 30's, I realized that male or female... they see so many that I am sure it stops being erotic for them after a while. Plus, in my 30's, I realized that if it was gonna be erotic for them, they would probably prefer a young gorgeous firm girl, not a 30'ish complaining b!tch!

I want the bestDoctor I can find and I've had good ones of both sexes.Unfortunately I had an OB/GYN who damn near killed me..that Doctor was male.

My current internist is a really nice male Asian Doctor.

a good female friend of mine once told me that for her OB she absolutely prefers male. for some reason she feels that female doctors aren't dependable in certain emergency situation that needs a quick decision (i.e. in delivering her baby etc).

i personally don't think it matters though, and i believe it doesn't matter much to my wife either.
