Trying to buy x-mas gift for mom
She said to me Size 10 Misses, but when i look online I have the following options.

Fit: Sit slightly above waist; relaxed fit through hips and thighs; slightly tapered legs. Inseams: Misses' Petite 28", Regular 30", Medium Tall 32", Tall 34" (Black, Classic Camel, Classic Olive and Navy only). Women's (Black, Classic Camel, Classic Olive and Navy only) Petite 28", Regular 30".

So I choose the size of 10, but then have the choice of Inseams, Petite, Regular, Medium, and Tall.

She's probably regular at that height. Definitely not medium tall or tall. Maybe petite? Hard to know for sure. Not everyone's legs are the same length who are the same height.

missy/juniors = cuts and styles for young girls
misses = cuts and styles for older teens to adult women
Mrs. = cuts and styles for middle aged(ish) women
Queen = cuts and styles "large" women.
Petite used to be for small boned petite girls/women. Now it means short. So you can have a really fat girl wear petites.

Petite, Regular, Medium, and Tall.

Petite will have a shorter distance from the crotch to the waist and shorter inseems. Regular and Mediums inseems and crotch/waist distance are pretty much the same. They are what most women wear. Tall will give a lot more inseem and waist/crotch distance.

If your mom said 10 misses, I would guess that you are safe with a size 10 misses cut/style in a regular/medium

:)

If she's somewhere between 5'4" and 5'6", the 28 inch inseam would probably fit her without any alterations, but it would be more likely if they said "short" instead of petite. Sometimes petite cut can be smaller in other ways as well. If your mother can hem them herself or easily get someone else to do the alterations, the 30 inch regular would probably be the safest bet.

It's not like a person who wears size 10 is twice the size of a person who wears a size 4. And size 10 isn't huge, either. I believe last I heard, size 12-14 was average.

It's very nice that your wife wears a size 4. Not all women do.

Yes, enough with the trying to compare different sized women already.

I am in my late 30's, have 3 children, am 5'6 and a size 6-8 in pants and a 10 in shirts 'cause I'm busty. I have a slightly larger than average frame, as in my wrists measure in at 6 3/4 of an inch, and an average woman's wrists are 6 1/2. I also have a size large head... hard as hell to find hats that fit. Anklets have to be ordered in a size large for me, and it's not because I have fat ankles.

The point is, I am by no means some huge monster because I'm not a fragile little thing! I'm a mesomorph and comfortable in my body. I don't think there is anything wrong with being smaller framed, but I take offense to people acting like larger framed people are fat or something. I am not fat at all.
