I attend a kickboxing class several times a week. There's another student (female, very attractive, no pics 😛) that was wearing some shorts with MIZZOU printed accross the ass. We're both in SoCal now so I thought a good opening to conversation would be "I grew up in Missourri, you just go to school there?" or something but it kept sounding like "I'm staring at your ass." in my head, so I kept quiet. 🙂

So, should I have used the in or was it better to have kept my mouth shut?
 
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, so I'd say you dropped the ball. The worst she can do is blow you off, which is exactly what happens if you don't ever say anything.
 
Well, it was quite nice, so were her other assets. She's a regular and so I am, so I think I'll just have to find my old SMSU (Southwest Missourri State University) t-shirt or order another one and wear it to class one day. 🙂
 
I think if someone has something printed across their ass, they want people to look there... oh well, next time huh?

If she's got writing on her ass, she expects that people will at least look at it a little bit. Don't worry about it.
 
This is a kickboxing class, right? I would check the "can she kick my heiny" factor prior to entering the query.

I have to agree. By wearing printed material across her butt, she's giving you carte blanche to look, same as girls who wear t-shirts with slogans across the bust. It's different from a girl "asking for it" because this is a case of literally asking for the stares.
 
I would imagine if it said "hung low univ" across your zipper she would notice so what's wrong with looking at something on her butt.

The words are there to be read. If she has a nice ass, she probably has words there to draw attention to it. Probably shoulda said something.
