What a charming culture.

Is it not "their" culture?

What business is it of yours or specifically show me in the United States Constitution where it says we must erradicate other cultures that we don't like.

I think it says something to that effect in the back, although it's hard to make out because Georgie insisted on using crayons.

Heh.... must've upset I.M.C in some way :)

Still, comparing the Pope to that fool from Australia is rather asinine.

I condemn the statement. The self proclaimed cleric obviously has no clue of what he talks about. He should be tried in a muslim court for making this statement.

If they don't want to accomodate ideas from the dark ages, the American constitution should be rewritten.

Actually, no, you didn't; I just happen to think the Pope is no better, along with most religious "leaders". Where they are "from" matters little.

To some extent we must understand this is a cultural thing at gets at the heart of what might be called taboos. Even in the USA we have surely heard the expression "she dresses like a whore."

We may not be able to precisely define it, but we know it when we see it. Or she acts like a whore--again a cultural defined expectation of what a proper lady does or does not do. And many of us would die of heart attacks or droll with lust if some sexually muture female went to the local supermarket topless on a swelteringly hot day---but would not bat an eye if a man did the same thing. But in certain cultures, women routinely go topless and darn near bottomless---and how many of the older generation got their sex anatomy lessons from the pages of National Geographic?--a process now antiquated by girlie magazines and the internet.

To us, what we see in terms of moslem repression of female dress is a cultural custom that has evolved as a sexual norm in some societies-----but when Moslims holding one set of cultural taboos
are suddenly placed in western societies, a clash of these taboos are going to ineveitable.

We just are concentrating on our repulsion with their sexual taboos--while blithely ignoring the facts that we have our sexual taboos also that seem equally strange to other people.

But that is not say repressing female potential is wise in any way---any society that denies access to females loses 50% of its potential---and is culturally stupid in a modern world where brains counts more than anything else.

Now he is a self-proclaimed cleric -- after they realized that the backlash might hurt them. Too bad all that covering up of women proves that it is not only his belief.

A reader on the BBC website got the essence of this whole issue: "So, the mask has slipped. The Imam is telling it as he sees it, and its pretty unpalatable."

Yep, he should be tried for speaking out the truth a little bit too soon.

Ever heard of constitutional amendments?

why should he be banned? for turning a phrase into an acronym? how is that bannable? is that a Sharia thing?

This coming from a guy who also believes the "cleric" should be "tried in a Muslim court"?? Newsflash: no such courts hold jurisdiction over the people in modern Western nations. We have our own courts that rule your life, thankyou. This "cleric" did not break any Western laws, so, unlike Sharia, we don't often punish people for simply insulting or offending someone. You know, free speech an all that jazz? maybe you've heard of it?

"Muslim court"...bah.. what nonsense.

NOTE: I am certainly not defending the a$$hat "cleric" who uttered this insulting garbage, but the fact remains that no crimes were committed. It's the same as the cartoon debacle and everything else that has happened lately. It would by hypocritical of the West to punish this "cleric" for meerly offending people... so we won't. We'll simply consider him an a$$hat and move on. (therein lies one of the fundamental differences between "us" and "them")

That said, I'd personally like to beat the hell out of this supposed "cleric"... but that's just me.

Yes, more than half of it needs to me amended.

I just said he should be tried for misinformation. I never even mentioned punishment.

Btw, since when is Australia "the west" ? I can see how people like you contribute to the divide in the cultural gap between whites and the rest of the world. The only reason for western influence over the world is their money and military strength. Thats not because of your stupid justice system where this happens:

That also goes for rapists who were 90% seduced by the she-devil, right?

Dear lord, what an atrocity!

Why don't you try and say something against the Gov. in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, or Lebanon, and then come back and complain about freedom of speech in the West.

The penatly for rape is stoning to death for the offender. I.E the male.

Since when has the Saudi government claimed it is a free country? America is a hypocritical country which justifies its actions by the wrong doing of others. Good thing I'm not brainwashed liked most of the American public to beleive that BS.

The fact I'm not in prison is proof that I have not.

If rape is accepted, then why do we have laws against it? It may be hard to prove in a court of law, but it certainly isn't accepted.

LOL, so says the muslim from Pakistan.

I've basically come to the conclusion that Democracy and Islam (at least in it's current form) are like water and oil. They just don't mix.
