An Italian woman who arrived late for the Air France flight that crashed in the Atlantic has been killed in a car accident.

Johanna Ganthaler had been on holiday in Brazil with her husband and missed Air France Flight 447 after turning up late at Rio de Janeiro airport on May 31, The Times online has reported.

All 228 people aboard lost their lives after the plane crashed into the Atlantic four hours into its flight to Paris.

The ANSA news agency reported that the couple, from Bolzano-Bozen province, had managed to pick up a flight from Rio the following day.

Ms Ganthaler died when their car veered across a road in Kufstein, Austria, and swerved into an oncoming truck. Her husband was seriously injured, The Times reported.

Wow that sucks. She missed the flight and had to drive all the way to France? That's like 5100 miles (8200 km)!

Its her time to go. years ago someone who got out of the WTC on 9/11 died a month or so later in a plane crash in NY.

I've long accepted when your time is up its up. How many planes flew through the same area and nothing happened but this plane went down.

Imagine being on a plane in the seat next to someone whose time has come. That would suck.

Yes. The idea that there is some cosmic clock ticking for each and every person. The idea of some pre-determined, unavoidable destiny. It's superstitious hokus pokus.

Not if they choke on the food or just have a random myocardial infarction (BIG WORDS :D). Then they don't have to take anyone with them

The case for and against God cannot be proved scientifically. It's the same for predestination. However, what is sure is that we are all "destined" to die.

He has as much the right to hold this belief as you have to reject it. If it provides him with answers to difficult questions in life, what's it to you? Questions that atheism can never provide answers to.

In Final Destination I always wondered why death just didn't give them an aneurysm.

Guess it would be a boring movie :D

And it can NEVER be proven wrong. "When your time is up its up."
So basically, you can die at ANY TIME, and that'll just be when your time is up, whether or not it's a baby dying the day after it's born, someone dying in a war, a serial killer dying in a shower of police gunfire, or dying of old age.

Let's say someone bursts into your room and points a gun at your face. Do you simply assume, "Well, this is it, my time is up." But then what if the person gets scared of something and leaves? Do you kill yourself because your time was already up, and you can't risk upsetting the precious balance of nature's magical death schedule?

For now. :)
Genetic enhancements, artificial bodies and brains....eventually death will be a thing of the past.
