I responded to an auto accident one morning, and a woman had run a stop sign because she spilled her coffee, and struck a fellow about 50 years old. They were both fine, and he acted normal. One of the local cops smelled alcohol on him and did a PBT. He blew a .44 !! You would have never know it by his behavior. They took him to ER for a blood draw to confirm it........ And the accident wasn't even his fault.....

Damn... that means that her blood had more alcohol in it than most hard alcohol.

Isn't the BAC a percentage? Thus a BAC = 0.47 is actually 0.47% and not 47%?

*edit* period in the wrong place

Er, no, that's half of 1%. Beer is commonly 5%, wine 12%, hard liquor 40%. It's a lot for blood, but not much compared to actual alcohol.

I once blew a .42 on my birthday in Vegas. I had about 10 friends there and they all kept buying me shots when midnight hit. I woke up the next afternoon and blew a .17.

I'm sure I've been up there, I've popped the top on a 1.75l liquor bottle more than once and remembered nothing till waking up the next day to see 2-3" left in the bottom. I don't drive when drinking though, of course. And it's pretty infrequent that I drink... but man, when i do :Q

Yeah, I learned in high school that .4 and above was pretty much death, for the average person.
