We don't need a new Trump thread so I'll just post this here.

TL;DR: Trump praised by Putin, accepts praise. Trump asked by pundit if he has a problem accepting praise from someone who murders journalists and political opponents. Trump says at least Putin is a leader, unlike Obama [who apparently is too weak to have journalists murdered.]

STL;SDR: Just another day in Trumpville.

It seems we jump on foreign leaders who weigh in during our own campaigns with observations favoring this or that candidate.

Netanyahu did it; Putin is doing it.

So you have to ask why Putin is encouraging a possible loose cannon in the White House after 2016. I've watched this guy off and on. And I know he has a certain popularity in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

But he is both naïve and cynical. He's naïve for his nostalgia about a time when USSR was "a power to be reckoned with." In this regard, he's similar to many candidates I see in this campaign for 2016.

As we long-ago concluded after Stalin, Russian leadership has been "rational." You can't say that about Kim Jong Un or Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

But what's his game? Early in the Obama presidency, he joked that Obama "Has a nice suntan." So that somehow infects Obama's detractors with the conclusion that he's "weak?"

What good is it to the Russians for an American leader like Trump? Unless they think that Trump will prove a bad leader?
