Woman pulls gun against would-be bandit

"The man opened the driver's door of her 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass. With his hand in his right pocket, he pressed an object to her jaw that she believed was a gun. The culprit ordered her to give him money, but she had other thoughts. Clutching $6 in one hand, she began struggling with him as he again demanded her money. Determined not to become a robbery statistic, the woman reached with her other hand to the passenger seat for her 9 mm handgun, grabbed the pistol and pointed it at his face. "If you're going to shoot me then do it, 'cause I'm definitely going to kill you."

Dirty Sally.

This really underscores the misconception of those who advocate that you just 'comply' because 'life is more valuable than property'. Nobody knows whether complying would have resulted in her becoming another 'robbery' statistic, another rape statistic, or another homicide statistic.

I was watching a 'crime stories' show the other day where a guy robbed a bar and grill. The two employees complied with every word, put up absolutely no resistance at all, yes sir and no sir. The robber ordered them down on the floor and shot them both, anyway, killing the woman and paralyzing the man. For nothing, absolutely nothing.

No thanks. If you try to rob me, I must presume you intend to kill me, because I'm not going to let you dictate my fate. As though I am supposed to put my faith and trust in a person who is robbing me.

I agree, but its definately a tough situation to be in. You don't get much chance to think about things.

Well-said and I agree 100%. Good for her!

Well there are circumstances where you want to comply, because you're at a substantial disadvantage. I mean if he's got a gun pointed right at your face, you might seriously think twice about trying anything at that moment, because you're in a very vulnerable position where any sudden movement might be your last.

Its a calculated risk, either way. You have to know there are no assurances. If you comply, it isn't an assurance, he may kill you, anyway. There may come a point, depending on many factors, including the extent of any self-defense training you might have, where resisting is better.

Yes.. I agree.

I know I mentioned this before, and no, I'm not really into talking about it much but:

My buddy and I were carjacked and he got killed, I got almost killed. So, it's just a matter of temperament, willingness and opportunity of the offender.

Just remember these things don't always work out..

Very well said.

Woohoo! Yo go woman! 😀

Personally I would have just broke the guys arm for GP (general purpose in army terms) but her using her real gun against his fake one was classic and way better than my brute force aproach. I wonder what the expression on the other guy's face was. 😀

How hard is it to get a concealed weapon license?
Fortunately, it is no longer next to impossible in Michigan, where this incident took place.

It was a helluva battle spanning more than six years, but Michigan is now a bona fide 'must issue' state. It is one of the most stringent standards of all 32 shall issue states, but you need not prove a 'compelling or convincing need' in order to qualify.

If you take the mandatory firearms course, have no prior criminal convictions for any of the disqualifying crimes, are at least 21 years of age, and pay the permit fee, you cannot be denied a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

hmmmm, instead of sending the guy to prison, let us emulate iraq or saudi arabia and cut off the man's right hand.

That is pretty barbaric... That being said, it would have been great if she would have shot him in the face.

Oh, and this also reminds me.

LOCK your car doors whenever you are in your car. They help keep you in and keep people like this jackass out.
